I chose this hotel based on location as I loved the idea of having views in all directions, and we were not disappointed. Ask for a room with a view of the sea (rather than the Marina) as it's stunning! Not that the Marina view isn't lovely too . . . We also upgraded to one of their 'The Level'... More

This has been the second visit to the Melia Alicante for a 3 day sunshine break with girlfriends. This hotel has the perfect location - overlooking the beach, set next to the marina, a stroll to the old town and the copious numbers of shops. We had an early morning flight and when we arrived the rooms weren't ready which was fair... Located at the Marina overlooking the Mediterranean Sea .great location within easy walking distance to La Rambla and shopping district. Beautiful promenade along the shore front. Rooms clean and spacious. Clean linen , towels changed daily. Staff very hospitable. Good experience and stay .

I agree with the previous reviews - this is the most unfriendly and uncomfortable hotel. It took us two hours (!) to check-in, the receptionists were plainly rude and insulting! Though we had booked a superior room melia room with sea view, we were give a cheaper classic accomodation on the 3rd floor facing the opposite wall (the hotel is... More

Location, Location, Location We stayed at the Melia Alicante during April/May 2012. This hotel is centrally located in the city. Playa del Postiguet is a 3-minute walk. The C-6 bus to/from the Airport is a 4-minute walk. The TRAM to Benidorm, Calpe, Altea, Dania and Muchavista is a 5-minute walk. There is a Casino across the street. Should you be... More

Checkin was a nightmare,so confusing,English very poor, took half and hour.We upgraded our room which cost us.A junior suite, very dated and in need of a few repairs, not very luxurious. The resteraunt in the evening like sitting in a funeral parlour and thefood was bit like a bushtucker trial, not very informative on the menu del dia, some of the waiters were downright rude, and banged... This place welcomes you with the subtle smell of blocked drains wafting through the reception and bar area. The decorative theme is brown...very brown, lifted only by a touch of beige. The first room reeked of smoke, the second was better. Neither was the top floor junior suite we had booked, but by then we were too tired to worry.... More

The Melia Hotel in Alicante has the most lavish breakfast buffet I've seen: fresh rolls, four kinds of cheese, four kinds ofyogurt, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, cappuccino machine, paella, potato omelet, etc. The tablecloth is changed after each use and the guests have until 10.30a to report. The usual amenities of a four-star hotel are present including the option... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights in early May during our holiday to Alicante and Barcelona. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were spacious with a substantial sized balcony and the breakfast was fantastic, probably one of the best breakfasts we've have had in Europe. A great hotel which we will stay at again, should we return... More

First, the positives: it's a nice hotel, brilliant location right on the beach and I was upgraded to a really nice room (the regular rooms were all sold out). But then the negatives: The room was miles (and I mean miles) from the lift. The porter forgot to bring up my luggage and the phone was broken in my room... More
