We have just returned from a week at the Barcelo Varadero, booked as a late deal with First Choice. Quite honestly it was the best value holiday I've ever booked. Being 'All Inclusive', was the right choice, as the hotel catered very well for our every need. The staff were exceptional, took us in their arms and cared for us... More

We booked a last minute deal here for an all-inclusive package which turned out to be a good option as there aren’t many restaurants within comfortable walking distance of the hotel. Because of that we can’t make any recommendations as we ate all our meals in the hotel but we did notice a couple of pizza-type restaurants and a Thai... More

We found crumbs along the side of the creaking, raggedy old sofa in our room. The table had seen better days and was very unbalanced- we had to shove some paper under one leg just to use it. The kitchenette is old and horrible. The bedroom is poky and tiny, and once again all furnishings are threadbare and old. Food... More

I have just returned from a short (5 night) all inclusive stay at the Barcelo. Ive stayed here twice before and have returned due to its value for money accommodation. Pros: Nice clean apartments. Helpful checkin staff. Good bar staff. Ample deck chairs and swimming pool space. Good food, good choice. Nice poolisde bar, not manic ample seating. Cons: Terrible... More

We stayed here for a week and was not that impressed. The complex is very large and not very friendly. We have a child with learning difficulties and people did not know how to take her. Meal times were horrendous, way to many people at same time, I found breakfast was the worst. Tables were set up either for large... More

We have just returned from a really enjoyable holiday in Playa de la Arena. The Barceló had good food, a range of swimming pools to choose from, tennis and helpful staff. Immaculate grounds and all very clean and well presented.

went back to this hotel, having been once on my own 3 years ago for a few days and enjoyed it/ checked it out as potential kiddi-friendliness. This time went wit my two kids- 3 and 5 and a good friend with her two of same ages. The apartments were perfect for us and we had 2 quite close together... More

On our last day at this hotel. Enjoyed a restful stay in a superior room. Lovely room but bedroom would be very hot and claustrophic in summer as only air conditioning in living room, separated from bedroom by bathroom! Food not up to our usual expectations for AI, not at all special, limited choice and usually only lukewarm. Restaurant staff... More

We booked this holiday the day before departure. It read fairly well and was at a good attractive price. Didn't have too high expectations as very last minute. From the minute we arrived, we were made very welcome by Jeanette at Reception who allocated us a great superior apartment and sorted out the free wi-fi. The Hotel and rooms are... More

First we had to wait 30 minutes for the check-in, there were two people in line, and there was 2 men in the reception. Finally we got to check-in and we got the wifi code, "Great", we thought, now we can have wifi in the room and just relax. But no. The wifi code did not work and when we... More
