My family stayed here on Friday evening after a great walk in Edale...we were welcomed with a smile and very friendly staff who could not do enough for us...much appreciated after a long walk was lots of hot water and my daughter's room even had a spa type bath. Popped into the George just for a drink, not been in for many years, and last time it was a bit worn out....Now it's cool and contemporary, but keeping its old world charm....The staff were very friendly and the two courses for £8.95 was excellent value for money....

Went here for lunch with friends, the food was really nice and there was plenty of choice all served with swift friendly service and a smile The price of the food and drink was very good value and the decor was very nicely done and we were made to feel very welcome. I would happily recommend the George to friends... More

We eat here regularly. Good choices, and the two course for under £10 is great, smaller portions but its plenty. Add in a £10 bottle if wine on Fridays, I wonder how they do it. The staff are helpful and efficient, and the specials board gives good variety.

Booked a table for 10 for 16th birthday family celebration for my granddaughter. All the staff and managers were very helpful and accommodating of our party. The food was well cooked and presented and the service was attentive and quick. Lovely warm atmosphere in the pub with the old range burning and plenty of customers to add to the atmosphere... More

Had lunch with friends. The menu was varied and interesting and all four meals were delicious. Service was good and we felt comfortable. There were a number of people eating which is always a good sign but we were not kept waiting.

We came here to eat on a Saturday evening with our dog in tow. We had a really good meal - I had the mushroom soup followed by pie and mash with veg. I asked for the mash rather than the chips it listed on the menu and it was no trouble to swap the staff were only to happy... More

I visited here when staying at the Walzing Weasel, I was disappointed I ordered the wings followed by a Prawn Salad. The prawn salad was a big Prawn Cocktail only imagination was to drape a few sorry looking anchovies on the side of the plate before overpowering everything with a lot of red onion. This was OK The wings were... More

Visited following walk up Lantern Pike (recommended). Dogs welcome. Good food selection and enjoyed what we had - Sunday roast lamb, kleftico, steak pies. I recommend a visit here - we will be returning.

We visit The George quite regularly but on this occasion a large group of us (21) enjoyed our annual get together at The George. Even though the pub was very busy with other diners and drinkers, we were looked after really well by the staff. The food was delicious and served very quickly. A very enjoyable evening!!
