My husband and I spent 12 blissful days here in July for business, but it ended up being a second honeymoon for us! We had no idea that the hotel would be so utterly charming in an ‘Olde Europe’ sort of way––perhaps one should think of an Italian version of the Grand Budapest hotel. How can such a hidden paradise... More

I have visited the Grand Hotel San Michele half a dozen times over more than a decade: alone, with my wife, and with my children. It is simply delightful. The setting overlooking the Mediterranean. Wonderful food--fresh, local, always good. Charming and helpful staff. Breakfast on the patio overlooking the ocean. Lunch on the beach. Dinner under the stars. Lovely rooms.

We used this hotel as a base for my english family to stay when I married my Calabrese wife in May. The hotel is old and perhaps a little dated but at the same time manages to be very elegant and the overall experience is very italian. Fantastic! The staff couldn't be more helpful and made us all feel very... More

One cannot review San Michele as if it were an American hotel; one must enjoy the experience, views, food, and atmosphere from a true Italian point of view. This hotel and it's grounds are lovely. The Mediterranean is below with an elevator taking you to a beachfront restaurant and swimming area. The hotel has its own gardens, olive trees, fruit... More

I visited a few weeks ago for the first time with my family. It was an incredible stay, and there was so much to enjoy! The grounds around the hotel are absolutely lovely, and the place is very well maintained. There are flowers simply EVERYWHERE. Walking around the hotel is a pleasant experience at nearly any time of the day.... More

Beautiful location, if you are driving be careful of the entrance that is not well sign posted, on a bend and the road is very, very quick. (It is Italy after all) The restaurant staff should work for Basil Fawlty, very funny and very accommodating. The menu is limited but they are willing to cook anything you ask for at... More

First visit to this excellent hotel based on a recommendation by a friend.Family run hotel based on personal service and excellent food - fresh and organic fruit and vegetables, olive oil and wine from the adjacent farm owned by the same family. The staff are so welcoming with a pleasant greeting for everyone - whatever time of day. The food... More

Having travelled for many years this is the first time I have ever returned to the same place. The San Michele is extraordinary. The hotel itself, location, staff, food and beach restaurant are simply fantastic. If you are after somewhere for rest and relaxation this is the place for you. I intend to return later this year for a third... More

The hotel rooms were full of bugs. Certain people in the staff very rude. Besides, there is no other way to get there than their shuttle service: no taxi, no bus. Terrible communication. It's a shame considering the great location of hotel.

We only had one night here but wished we could have stayed longer. A 4th generation family-run hotel set in it's own farmland, growing it's own fruit and veg, producing own wine and preserves, with beautiful gardens, golf course, large pool and private lift to private beach. Stunning elevated position, good food and service (the Maître d' worked in Claridges... More
