Working close by and finishing late, I decided to stay in this place that had been highly recommended and get a good night sleep before the following day's work. How wrong was I. The owner's attitude was terrible from the start - unless one is happy to work around her schedule and errands. On the day, I had to come... More

I am very sorry that you did not enjoy the experience here at Hallbottom Farm. In response to some of the things you were disappointed with I would just like to say that usually when guests are working very late ie after 11.00pm, I do ask for them to pick up a key earlier in the day. Hallbottom is a... More

We arrived at Hallbottom Farm at the pre-arranged time and in the pouring rain to find the house locked up tight and no one home. After waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave and find other accommodation. On the way back to Stokenchurch we met another vehicle driven by the B & B caretaker and followed her back to the... More

The recent terrible weather could not damped our lovely night at Hallbottom Farm (recommended to us by The Sir Charles Napier which we had booked for an evening meal). The farmhouse is set in a beautiful valley which was seemingly untouched by the flooding so many others were suffering from and watching the red kites so close overhead was a... More

Spent one night here to attend a wedding reception at the nearby King's hotel, as they had no free rooms. Deborah was friendly, helpful and eager to make our stay tailored to our personal needs. It was more like a boutique hotel than a B&B, I thought. There was a nice separate sitting room for guests. Private road down had... More

We spent a wonderful two nights here escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Deborah immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The farm is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and perfectly located to explore the surrounding area. Peaceful and the ideal place to get away from it all! We will be back!

We stayed here over a weekend after a holiday so we could visit family en route home, so geography was important. There is no doubt this is a stunning rural location, quiet and very pretty. The owner was away, so we did not meet her, but the lady looking after everything was superb, could not have been more helpful and... More

I have stayed at Hallbottom Farm many times over the past few years and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Rooms are delightfully decorated and comfortable: Deborah is a wonderfully warm, generous and attentive host; nothing is ever too much. Breakfasts are a delight, taken in a sunny room over looking the garden. Hallbottom is a real gem, sitting... More

Remarkable location but beware irresponsibly fierce and unmarked road humps on the track. We stayed for one night in the Old Kitchen Bedroom: small and dark but adequate, tho' somewhat disturbed due to complete lack of sound proofing from room above; bed comfortable but felt damp....needed airing. The shower hadn't been switched on which led to some panic in the... More

I am so surprised and sorry that you did not enjoy your one night here at Hallbottom. To address some of the points you mentioned; The bumps on the drive are not speed bumps, they are there to redirect the rainwater rushing down and flash flooding the yard, which happened a couple of years previously. I cannot understand how your... More

Our stay was 13th August 2013. The owner was away but we were amply look after by the woman that was looking after the house in her absence. The road down to the property was very bumpy and had several totally unnecessary and high speed bumps. The room was clean and spacious but we were disappointed that there was a... More

We love staying here! The rooms are comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious, and Deborah is a very friendly, welcoming host. The garden and the surrounding areas are beautiful. We love going for walks along the paths through the woods and fields. This is a very special place. We look forward to returning!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hallbottom farm nestles in its own secluded valley in the middle of the ancient Chiltern hills. Completely private and very pretty location. Wildlife is in abundance with deer frequently visiting the garden. Lots of different birds to watch including the Red Kites! We are only 50 mins from the west end and 20 mins from Oxford City. The house is a farm house with high levels of comfort, slightly shabby chic style which hopefully you will love. A very warm welcome awaits you. ... more   less
