I am a frequent traveler to Japan and stayed many times in Daiichi. This is a typical Japanese hotel so expectations in regards to room size should be set accordingly. Other reviews mentioned differences between rooms that face the street compared to those that face the internal lobby, however in my opinion there are minor and rooms are very similar... More

had 8 nights at this hotel, paid for by a company and so can not be too critical. great position for train and shopping. staff fabulous and helpful, rooms clean though very small. rooms and foyer are dated with a major upgrade needed. carpets have seen better days. dined at night with a great multi-course meal: paid for by company.... Kichijoji is an excellent neighborhood to enjoy all things Japanese. Set several blocks away from the busy train station, with an attractive atrium foyer and multiple dining venues, the Dai-ichi is an accessible and comfortable hotel choice for westerners. We appreciated the absence of smoking odor in the elevators and other public areas, which couldn't be said for the business... More

I used to stay at Tokyu Inn, which is closer to the train station but switched to Dai Ichi Hotel for this visit. Experience is vastly superior, especially since the rooms are newly renovated. While typically tiny, it is nicely furnished with new linen (vs. the thread bare options at the other establishment) and attractive decor. Lobby area is also... More

This is a very nice hotel about a three to five minute walk from the train station but still in the main part of town. I arrived early (mid morning) after an overnight flight knowing that check in time was mid afternoon. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, whilst there was not a room available... More

I have to acknowledge a certain soft spot for the Dai-ichi, as it was the first Japanese hotel I had to use regularly when starting to visit Japan on business for the first time some 15 years ago, and for a European it gave me that full Japanese hotel room experience. For example, no room to swing a cat around,... More
