Rather than a cave room, we selected a room with a view of the Loire River. The hotel is on a very busy street, with considerable street noise. It had somewhat of a "corporate" feel. We have stayed at many Relais & Chateaux properties, and found this one to be the least friendly. It's not what we've come to expect... More

We stayed here a few times, never disappointed. The rooms are troglodytes and big, even our shower was built into the rocks. The restaurant is fantastic, except I was still a little hungry after a four course meal. Staff all very friendly. Beautiful view of the Loire as you eat. Nice swimming pool and gardens.

We enjoyed our room set into the rock: well appointed, quiet, and spacious overlooking the river. Delighted to have the opportunity to stay there, and the staff was welcoming and ready to give advice on places to see and eat.

Stayed here during a bike tour and was quite impressed. All the rooms are built into the rocks (caves) and are very spacious and well appointed. We could have played volleyball in the room it was so large. The food was outstanding in the restaurant, especially the veal chops. And

The rooms are original, spacious, super quite but lack some basic services for a high end facility and are not well lit. Bathrooms are modern and well equiped. The real problem is the bed(s). It is decorative and large but lack any sense of comfort. Only one flat pillow per person is provided ( you have to call for a second... More

On the way to Bordeaux, my lady and I broke the journey and stayed overnight at the Haute Roche. I have stayed there many times in the past, although not for quite a while., I am glad to say it has not changed the rooms, the service, and the food, really are excellent, we were very lucky the weather was... We returned to this property having visited 2 years ago and having loved it. The simple experience of staying in a troglodyte cave was enough to have us return. These rooms are absolutely dry, noise proof, huge and have every facility right down to perfect wifi. The bathroom is 5* with a large walk in shower and all the facilities.... More

A very professional enterprise. We Didn't make it due to last minute change of plans. Thank you for the sympathetic consideration of our circumstances, the excellent communications and we will definitely be visiting in the future to replace a missed trip to the Loire.

We chose this hotel because of its "troglodytes" rooms built in the cliff along the Loire river. The hotel is rated as high end accommodation, with all the confort and service that you expect. However, and despite the originality and size of the rooms, it lacked some obvious basics. The bed was very uncomfortable. The matress should have been bought... More

We stayed in two troglodyte rooms, which were atmospheric, quite large and very quiet. The only downside was that they can be quite cool. The staff were helpful with restaurant reservations. On Sunday and Monday evenings, the restaurant is closed and the closest alternatives are a short drive away, which is a little frustrating. But we had a very impressive... More
