We returned to this property having visited 2 years ago and having loved it. The simple experience of staying in a troglodyte cave was enough to have us return. These rooms are absolutely dry, noise proof, huge and have every facility right down to perfect wifi. The bathroom is 5* with a large walk in shower and all the facilities.... More

A very professional enterprise. We Didn't make it due to last minute change of plans. Thank you for the sympathetic consideration of our circumstances, the excellent communications and we will definitely be visiting in the future to replace a missed trip to the Loire.

We chose this hotel because of its "troglodytes" rooms built in the cliff along the Loire river. The hotel is rated as high end accommodation, with all the confort and service that you expect. However, and despite the originality and size of the rooms, it lacked some obvious basics. The bed was very uncomfortable. The matress should have been bought... More

We stayed in two troglodyte rooms, which were atmospheric, quite large and very quiet. The only downside was that they can be quite cool. The staff were helpful with restaurant reservations. On Sunday and Monday evenings, the restaurant is closed and the closest alternatives are a short drive away, which is a little frustrating. But we had a very impressive... More

I have generally booked one of the rooms in the main building, above the reception/restaurant. These rooms are large and comfortable with great views over the Loire and good double glazing which cuts out any road noise. We have stayed in a troglodyte room as well and found these interesting but not my first choice. Beyond the comfort of the... More

the main issue with this hotel is that they charge relais & chateau prices without the standard. we planned orginally to stay three nights but checked out after one night. important to note is that there is no food service in the evenings on sunday and monday, not even peanuts can be found to have with a drink on the... In a recent visit to the Loire Region we did not stay at this hotel but did visit for dinner, we had high expectations with the Relais & Chateaux listing. We were not disappointed the service, food and wine choices were all very good. Service in the Restaurant is what you would expect from a hotel of this class.. We... More

Stayed here for one night. Very large comfortable room (approx 60sqM) troglodyte so very cave like. Lovely view of the Loire River. Very quiet. Parking The staff in the restaurant seemed to have given themselves the right to choose certain things for the client. We were not given a choice for table water, the dessert of one of our party... The position and character of this hotel make it worth a stay, but the road between the hotel and the river is extremely busy and detracts from the otherwise peaceful position. We stayed in Room 8, which has a spiral stone staircase up to a cavernous (literally!) room with large windows and wide views over the hotel grounds and the... More

I really wanted to stay in a troglodyte hotel during our trip to the Loire valley. And now I can say I have and can check that off the list of things I need to do in my lifetime. But we really should have skipped this. The room was pricey, so you pay dearly to stay in a cave. It's... More
