Big hotel in solares, big rooms with wear and tear, fabric on bed and chairs is dirty looking and the walls have large marks and bumps, it needs an upgrade. Restaurant smelled like old fish when we came in so I ordered meats - food was ok but under seasoned. Still high standards for a Spanish hotel. Very comfortable beds

The rooms classical and modernist style clean ,neat and tidy . very professional and friendly staff at the reception, restaurant, bar and spa treatments. We were actually booked into another hotel in Solares which we were informed was closed on the day of our booking. We were offered alternative accommodation at the Hotel Balneario. We travelled from the ferry terminal at Santander which was a quick easy run along the A8 Bilbao motorway, only taking a short time. The small town of Solares is... More

This is a beautifully presented hotel with excellent management and customer service. We stayed for 8 nights and would highly recommend this establishment. Clean, spacious and very comfortable rooms, lovely pool (although much smaller than is portrayed on the hotel's website and should be heated), attentive staff and extremely relaxing ambience. Fast and free WiFi connection works well most of... More

We stayed at this spa for over a week, and found it to be nice and relaxing though a little but too inside the town for our comfort. It is a shame that the gardens are fairly small. The real outdoor pool is considerably smaller than the website photos show it to be. (We did not use it because the... More

I recently stayed at the Hotel Balneario and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to others looking to enjoy a peaceful, quiet and relaxing getaway. I found out about this hotel online and I thought the setting was perfect, a quiet town where I could relax, unwind and spoil myself. The staff seemed to go out of their way to make... More

This place is way oversold by its website. The outdoor pool is overlooked by a noisy motorway flyover, carefully clipped from the website photos. The rooms are clean but beds are old with stained headboards and covers and hard mattresses. Solares itself is a poor suburb of Santander with nothing to offer. The pool and spa are nice but under... We stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was a really great end to our holiday. The room was spotless, as was the whole hotel. It is light and airy and there are extensive spa facilities (although we did not use them). The food was really good and we ate dinner here both nights. The day menu had... More
