Sadly the Estate didn't live up to the stunning web pictures! From the outside the paint's peeling, it's tired and it's 70s glam is all but gone. Inside the receptionist was wonderfully helpful, the bar's been nicely done up, but there's no one there to serve drinks - and the beautiful view from the windows is dominated by the car... More

In response to your review, painting preparation and painting was being undertaken at Auckland’s Waitakere Estate on the “out-buildings” during the February / March period. Whilst the walls and pathways may have had a “peeling” look from scraping and water-blasting they are now all freshly painted. It is difficult to satisfy all dining expectations as they vary from customer to... More

I can't say enough about this sensational gem, right on our very own doorstep! This is the first time in my life I've ever felt inclined to write a hotel review - we had such an amazing time here, I just had to! I haven't a clue what the negative posts on here are on about (I think maybe it's... More

Beautiful, small and very great for time away from it all. Good food and wine, fantastic views and privacy for all, great lounge to relax in, gentle walks on the edge, no light polution.

We stayed one night on a special deal that included a double room and breakfast. We arrived to a warm and friendly greeting at reception and were given excellent information as to what was available at the Estate and surrounding attractions / things to see or do. The room was immaculate and comfortable with outstanding panoramic views. Everything was well... More

We got a online deal to say here.... right from when we first drove in the appearance is of a shabby motel not a 4 star hotel, it does get slightly better once inside so it’s a shame the outside doesn’t look better. We were shown to our room which was nice but on the balcony they'd let a bush... More

We recall your recent stay at the hotel and the manner in which you departed. Our response is as follows: A wedding was in progress on Saturday, 25 February and although the kitchen was fully staffed the delays experienced were primarily due to late arrivals of in-house, casual and wedding guests which interfered with the night's booked dining arrangements. Delays... More

Good and bad points. It's quite a unique hotel in the bush. The rooms are lovely - recently renovated, comfy beds. Food was good. We paid too much though. We wanted to book a package and the packages we were ridiculously priced for what it is. But then when we got there they had another special on they hadn't told... More

You think you are seriously travelling to the top of the world - spectacular location on top of the Waitakere Ranges. Shame it wasn't lovely weather, as we only had snippets of the panoramic view in between sheets of driving rain! The accommodation was nice - but felt that the decks to the units should be non-smoking as well, as... More

Weather conditions are out of our hands at the top of the world however, sunshine or rain, surrounded by forest, the Waitakere Ranges are the perfect destination for a restful escape. As is customary of High Tea, the first beverage or pot of tea is included. Subsequent beverages are additional. This is normal High Tea practice. The $6.00 charge you... More

We have just had one night at the Waitakere Estate, Waiatarua and wish it had been more. We arrived just on 3 pm and shown to our room, wow, what a view - fortunately it was a gorgeous day, everything was spotless, the brass and chrome fittings were gleaming. We had friends popping in to see us in the afternoon... More

The location is stunning and the view from our balcony was great, hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was nice but needed air con or at least ceiling fan as it was very hot not only during the day but also all night which didn't make for a great nights sleep. There were also no wine glasses in our... More

I stayed here with a few friends and must say that the hotel is in a perfect location. The views were fantastic you couldn't ask for more. However, it needs soome attention. The room had no air conditioning and unless you like to sleep in a sauna at night or be bitten by the local insects you might want to... More

This review is from a conference delegate allocated a Loft Room on the top floor of the hotel for the duration of his stay. We remind the reviewer he was in a rain forest habitated by insects. From check-in, requests from this guest were recorded and when possible processed in a timely manner. The Tui Conference Room at the Estate... More
