Stayed 1 night in the castle suite at the begining of May. As other reviewers have mentioned the access to the suite is interesting - a narrow winding staircase (watch your head)and then a steepish loft ladder type stairs to the room itself - it appealed to our sense of humour. After we had finished laughing we transfered our overnight... More

This was our first stay in a castle and the whole family enjoyed it. Just pack a light bag if you are staying in the family suite as you go up a steep angled spiral staircase where you have to duck your head to get under another staircase up to your room. We didn't mind at all as we loved... More

I can't believe that I stayed at the same place that some of the recent reviews describe. I agree that it is a difficult place to rate, and I certainly don't give 5 stars unless I feel that they are thoroughly deserved. Surely it means that nothing could be better? My wife and I are in our mid 60s. Our... More

Visited this castle hotel about five years ago and had the opportunity to visit it once again. It is a great place to visit if you want fantastic views and an old world charm. The hotel is run by an older couple who speak a little english, but plenty if you're polite and understanding. Eat dinner with a view. There... More

The family that owns the hotel was very friendly, accommodating, and genuinely interested in their guests, and with few rooms in the castle, you'd expect such personal service. Unique experience for a less touristy stop in Germany. Few detailed items: Grounds - beautiful views and nice trails in the mountain if you enjoy short hikes. easy parking. nothing in walking... We stayed in the castle in December 2013 and were very pleased because of the off-season rates meant that a private suite of rooms in a castle tower was the same price as a standard hotel. There was ample parking with plenty of room to turn around, and service was great. The rooms were cute and clean, and we enjoyed... More

We stayed in the "castle suite", quite a spacious room. The stairs leading to the room were pretty tiny and steep - would not recommend bringing a large suitcase up. Beautiful views of the Rhine and surrounding scenery. The staff were a very sweet old couple, the man spoke reasonable English. Only downer for us was dinner; straight outta the... More

Our family of 6 had an excellent experience at Burg Liebenstein. We reserved 2 doubles, with a 3rd bed added to each - and were given the entire top floor of the 'tower'! Rooms were good sized, even when overloaded we had room to move around comfortably. Mattress a bit hard for our tastes, but overall bedding was clean and... More

We wanted to enjoy a different experience and researched castles along the Rhein River. We chose Burg Leibenstein for its warmth and charm. And did they deliver! This castle is privately owned by a couple with several staff to assist. They helped us with making reservations to attend the Reisling Wine Festival in St. Goar to assisting in making plans... More

A great view of the Rhine and of the 'castle next door' ... and the decor (paintings, armor, and other appointments) gives you the feel of being in an old castle. It is family owned and is a lodge built into the ruins of an authentic castle. The rooms were consistent with the castle experience and we had one of... More
