We were a party of 8 - 4 brothers and sisters and spouses coming together from Australia,USA and the UK for a once in a life time reunion trip to S.Africa. Spion Kop was put on our list as some of the party are history 'buffs' and Spion Kop had been recommended. It was a fabulous four days and a... More

We were a group of 5 (two couples and my 15 yr old son) staying for 2 nights on 28th/29th March 2012 as part of our tour of the Battlefields in KZN. This lodge is the perfect place to stay when visiting Spion Kop as it is close to the historical site and the hosts are welcoming and helpful. Raymond... More

We ended a three week trekking holiday in the Drakensburg with a weekend stay in Spionkop Lodge. It is a marvelous little spot - gracious and friendly hosts, beautiful setting, a well stocked bar and excellent restaurant. The bird trail behind the lodge must be visited for a sight of buck, warthogs and colourful birds. Best of all was sitting... More

We arrived at the Lodge following an eleven hour flight and long drive from Jo'burg airport to be met by Lynette, Hester and family who immediatly made us feel at home while we enjoyed refreshments and the spectacular views from the veranda. We had a lovely evening meal, great food and wine and a much needed restful night in our... More

We arrived at Spionkop Lodge, near Ladysmith, Kwazulu-Natal after driving from Johannesburg. After a welcome cup of tea, sitting on the Lodge's veranda overlooking the trees, searching for Kudu and spotting some, we booked our tour with Raymond for the next afternoon. After a spectacular storm and a good night's sleep, we headed out, the short drive to the Spionkop... More

Extremely freindly and obliging from collection at Durban Airport to returning. Raymond and Lynette made our visit to the area and Spion Kop Battlefields extremely enjoyable. The knowledge gained on the battles, and to be there was amazing. The whole area is a must to visit especcially the Drakensberg. Also the Game drive is not to be missed. The lodge... More

We stayed with two friends in the largest cottage, which was fairly basic but comfortable enough with two bathrooms and plenty of space. The setting itself is beautiful and the tour of Spion Kop was very special. Raymond Heron is very knowledgable and his description of the futile battle brought tears to our eyes. Although we booked for self catering... More

We stayed at Spion Kop lodge on 16th January 2012. We had called in for lunch the day before, intending to visit the battlefield ourselves, but loved the setting so much and realised it would be so much more enjoyable with a proper tour, so returned for dinner bed and breakfast the following day. We arrived late afternoon, and spent... More
