Stayed here last week for one night. A nice sized room for all of our bike gear to be packed in without us falling over it. They organized a garage for the motorbikes to park in out of the rain, which was very much appreciated. Location is brilliant with lovely views. Supper was a very festive occasion as all of... More

All rooms are full of character and well appointed. Dinner is good simple food with limitless reasonable wine and there is a well stocked and gemütlich bar. The location at the top of the town is good with views for miles.

We enjoyed a two night stay here.Everyone was very welcoming and could not do enough for us ,arranging a battlefield guide and also puncture repair. Our room was very comfortable and we opted to dine in both nights. The dinners were very good and it was good to meet with the other guests dining who were both visitors and businessmen.Dinner was excellent... Very happy to have found the really wonderful Buller's Rest Lodge. The kind, knowledgeable and hard-working staff made my stay an experience to remember. Truly this was one of the best places I visited during a year traveling in Africa.

A quick overnight stop turned into one of the most interesting Stays ever. Apart from very upmarket cottages with a deck and plunge pool overlooking the town the lodge is filled with artifacts and photos of the boer war, a real historical treat. Just the pub is worth a visit let alone a very hearty bfast and the friendly hosts.... More

I have written a review about this establishment before. The review was not good as my first visit to Buller's Rest was not great, as discussed in the previous review. I would have been back here reviewing this establishment again, much sooner, but Trip Advisor only allows you to review an establishment at least three months after your last review.... More

We were travelling from the north coast to Gauteng and wanted an overnight stop - I chose Ladysmith because its basically half way and I wanted to see Spion Kop and maybe the siege museum. I booked online a few weeks before our stay and then confirmed by telephone once we were in South Africa. We arrived a bit earlier... More

Originally allocated rooms by the pool they upgraded us as they were having a function that night (it was more like a dinner party). Rooms were very clean, service was good and a big thumbs up goes to the bar which has a collection of military ephemera, some of which you can try on/pick up.

There's nothing fancy about this place, but it was adequate, and suited my family's needs. The room was cozy and I always like the exposed thatch roofs. Water in the shower was hot. Dinner was fine; we were surprised it included wine! Service was courteous. My husband was intrigued by the bar and all the war memorabilia. Hot breakfast items... More

The room was very clean, and breakfast was excellent. If you don't like the cold, then bring some extra clothes, although I found it fine. Security was very good. There was coffee/tea in the room, I always bring my own toiletries, so I didn't look to see if there were any. Paul (the owner) makes you feel as though you... More
