We enjoyed two nights at Number 43 over Christmas and it proved to be as magical as Christmas itself. We'd read excellent reviews before we booked and we weren't disappointed. We had two rooms - a larger room at the front for my husband and I and a twin room at the rear for our teenage sons - and both... More

We stayed at No 43 as a late December break. What a beautiful and restful venue. We were tempted by all the great reviews and were not disappointed. Our room was beautiful with some amazing views of the estuary. Breakfast was a delight, as was the attention to detail in the levels of service and the quality of the accommodation.... More

Based on previous reviews I chose this boutique hotel for an overnight stay on my birthday. From the first moment we were greeted at the door with a warm smile through to a sincere farewell the next day we enjoyed every moment. Great room (room 2) with panoramic views of the estuary, super decor and comfort, top quality and very... More

Oh thank you so much for taking time to write a review, we do appreciate them even though at time I take a tad too long to answer them. The girls read them too and are really pleased to be mentioned in dispatches, I think that they are a great team and work really hard to help make your visit... More

My wife and I booked for two nights a bay facing room. The proprietor, Lesley was there to greet us on an afternoon arrival with a refreshing drink. The room had a great view of the train bridge and the bay. We opted from breakfast in the room the first morning, very relaxing and great start to the day. Internet... More

Hello and thank you, for two seasoned travelers who are also in the hospitality industry your positive comments are greatly appreciated. Today we have a weather warning, the sea at high tide was at the top of the viaduct and the train going over was whipped by the water, a really unusual sight. (I am just pleased we are not... More

Hello and thank you, it was lovely to see you when you were visiting family; we are so please when our breakfasts and coffer are mentioned in a positive manner! We get our coffee beans from Coffee Care at Skipton who roast it themselves, what we love is that they also pack individual sachets of freshly ground coffee for our... More

We stayed here on a Saturday night at the beginning of October, the B&B is just fantastic and the rooms looked great. We had a greats night sleep and breakfast was great, I couldn't put a bad thing down about this place. Will be visiting again in the near future, maybe for a full weekend this time.

Thank you, we do hope you will be back at some point, life can get hectic and overtake us, sometimes it is so good to get out of the rat race and just have time for each other. Have a great Christmas and maybe you will have time to see us in 2014. Fondest regards Lesley More

I agree with a lot of the previous reviewers, this is a nice place to stay, but if you are going to charge £130 for a night (single occupancy), then I think it has to be flawless - and it wasn't. I booked late (same day), but No 43 wasn't full and I was disappointed to get a very small... More

From the moment we arrived earlier than we had arranged on Monday 26 August 2013 and were treated and greeted with coffee/tea on the terrace to the moment we left on Thursday 29 August, nothing was too much trouble for Lesley and her team. Thank you so much for your lovely review, I am sorry I have taken so long to answer, compared to 2012 when we served breakfast on the terrace 5 times this year was like the old days! Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Last night at The Enjoy England for Excellence Ceremony we were awarded Gold for the Best Bed and Breakfast in England by Visit England. The position here is fabulous: a vast sky, a pretty village, the Kent estuary spilling into Morcambe Bay. Huge views shoot off to the Lake District, where distant peaks take to the skies. You're at the end of the road, more likely to be disturbed by commuting birds than a car, so sit on the terrace and watch the train puff across the viaduct or follow a flock of geese as they sweep through the valley. As for Number 43, interiors shine after a total renovation. You get glossy books and great views in the sitting room, then an honesty bar in the dining room, where delicious communal breakfasts set you up for the day: freshly squeezed orange juice, baskets of patisserie, porridge with honey and sugar, the full Cumbrian works. Bedrooms vary in size, but all are elegant with warm colours, fabulous linen, excellent beds, sparkling bathrooms. Two suites have the view, one has a free-standing bath by the window in its en-suite. ... more   less
