We only stayed for the one night at the end of Jan. Was a LOVELY stay peacefull and relaxing. Hosts were very welcoming and inviting. Already decided to go back for a weekend when the weather warms up to enjoy the scenery and wild life.

A lovely little Bed and Breakfast in a very quiet area, although still within easy reach of the main A40 into Camarthen. Rooms are very well laid out and there is a guest lounge downstairs which leads into the conservatory where breakfast is served over looking the garden and River Towy. The hosts Paul and Steve are very welcoming and... More

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Hospitality is what we do best, as well as make beds, cook breakfast and evening meals, dust now and then, weed the garden and feed the cat plus more (most mums will tell you). It is hard work but very rewarding when you get reviews such as yours, we are... More

My husband and I stayed for our wedding anniversary at the end of September as we wanted to visit a local restaurant nearby, we were greeted by Steve on our arrival and shown to our room - the Kingfisher (highly recommended) which had a large deck off the french doors overlooking the wonderful gardens and river Towy. After reading reviews... More

We thank you for your review. It is good to see that things are appreciated, even the smaller less obvious touches. We enjoyed your company and pleased that you favoured our meal over the highly recommended Y' Polyn restaurant, we must be doing something right. The lamb special was a great wedding anniversary treat, our congratulations, it was our pleasure.... More

My Dad and I stopped here for two nights while we visited my Aunt and Uncle a few miles away. The welcome was very friendly and the rooms were excellent - very comfy beds and the breakfasts were brilliant. From the breakfast/dining room, we had the view of the stunning garden, which led down to the river Towy at the... More

Great stuff, many thanks for your review. A great review for the Otters room, which has now been complemented with new furniture and flat screen TV with DVD player which has made more room and the fuel tank outside and to the left has been given a screen, not that most that have stayed would have noticed or commented about.... This was the first first stop of a 7 day tour of Wales. Situated right on the River Towy, Ty Castell is a lovely home in the village of Nantgaredig with just 4 bedrooms and believe me, there are kingfishers on the river, I have seen them! There are also otters and herons and the rooms are named after these... More

We are very impressed by your kind words of support, this from a Trip Advisor Top Contributor. Your compliments are very welcome, thank you. A quick word about the evening meal times, our main objective was to provide bed and breakfast with the 'add on' facility of evening meals which has really over taken our original roles. The timing for... More

Thank you for your kind review. This job is made so much easy when everyone gets on with each other and enjoys the basic things of life such as good food, hospitality and company. This coupled with the setting here on the riverbank makes Ty Castell the best B&B in Carmarthenshire although we know we won't please everyone all the... More

This was our third stay at Ty Castell, and we can honestly say that this is the best B & B we have ever stayed in. As on our other visits Paul and Steve made us very welcome. Steve's cooking is excellent and we ate in every evening. We shall definitely revisit next year.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Ty Castell Guest House sits on the door step of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales in the heart of the Carmarthenshire countryside, in the small hamlet village of Nantgaredig just 4 miles from Carmarthen Town. Ideally situated with good road links for cross county explorations of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and beyond. Once a farmhouse on the banks of the River Towy, Ty Castell– now a four star guest-house – opens its doors to weekenders, rural explorers, nature and garden admirers. A warm welcome awaits all our guests. Ty Castell offers its visitors quality home made evening meals with comfort and facilities of a very high standard, with a genuinely friendly, informal and personal touch. The Breakfast/Dining Room is housed in a delightful conservatory that allows you to look out across the river Towy and beautiful gardens. Spend some time in the solitude and peace of this green, remote region – where dairy herds graze on some of the best grassland in the British Isles; where the peregrine, red kite and buzzard live; where campion thrives at the side of winding lanes; and where steam trains run on rails that thread through ancient Celtic woodland. What better base for your Welsh peregrinations than Ty Castell – the quiet guest-house where you will truly find a welcome in the valley. The Towy and Cothi Valleys are best known as areas of outstanding beauty, brimming with lakes and legends. They offer a diversity of interests and activities to the visitor. ... more   less
