We spent one night here on the way to our holiday cottage and wished it had been more. We stayed in the Kingfisher room, which was spacious and had a balcony. Was very comfortable, view of the garden and river was superb and the food at Ty Castell was lovely. Paul and Steve were great hosts and can't wait to... More

Thank you for your review, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your break with us and look forward to your return. Ty Castell's centralised location makes it the best base for touring Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Brechfa Forest, The Brecon Beacons, St Davids, littered with castles, museums, gardens and Welsh culture along the way. Enjoy ! More

We arrived home today after spending a 3 day break at Ty Castell. We cannot fault this in any way. Paul and Steve who run this B & B cannot do enough for you, they are friendly and helpful and the Breakfast is lovely. We only had one evening meal there but wished we had more. Home cooked food, it... More

You are both very kind and your comments are very welcoming. Unlike some small accommodation providers we do not fuss over whether you stay for one day, two days or three weeks, everyone is welcome and you don't have to have an evening meal if you don't want to, we are pretty relaxed and have learned over the last 10... We spent 5 days at Ty Castell and had the most relaxing time there. Our hosts were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Kingfisher room where we stayed had wonderful views over the garden and river. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food was superb. We pre ordered our evening meals which were all... More

It is good to read your review comments knowing that they reflect what we intended to offer our guests at Ty Castell. Great hospitality, wonderful food and a chilled out atmosphere to relax indoors and out. Lovely stay at Ty Castell. Paul and Steve were very welcoming. Food was lovely and plenty of it. Room was comfortable and very clean. The location is fabulous, the garden is beautiful and access to the river bank footpath just made it. Thank you :-)

Wonderful comments, thank you. The Heron room from September will be en-suite, so no need to cross the landing to the bathroom for this room any more. It will also be having a small makeover. We are delighted that you enjoyed your evening meals and our hospitality which we put at the top of our priority list. All this with... More

Lovely riverside location, great home cooked food using local ingredients, lovely conservatory to have dinner/breakfast in, beautiful gardens to walk around, comfortable and cosy rooms - oh and welcoming and attentive hosts!!! We really enjoyed our couple of nights spent at Ty Castell. We enjoyed the excellent evening meal and Paul was the perfect host and Steve the perfect chef. Our room overlooked the stunning gardens and the river where we were lucky enough to see an otter. We would certainly return there and recommend the guest house to other people

We only stayed one night but the experience was second to none. Wonderful review, sorry about the weather, but as you say, a good reason to come back. The sun is now out and after praying for sunshine we are now hiding in the shade under the tree on the riverbank. It was a pleasure looking after you and we hope that you got the speech sorted for the NBGW and that... More

Great review and very informative both to potential guests and to us as owners. It reads as if the hotel inspector stayed with us and covered every angle, hitting the nail on the head by understanding why we have such routines that the two of us can cope with as most B&B's do not offer evening meals or accommodate people... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ty Castell Guest House sits on the door step of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales in the heart of the Carmarthenshire countryside, in the small hamlet village of Nantgaredig just 4 miles from Carmarthen Town. Ideally situated with good road links for cross county explorations of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and beyond. Once a farmhouse on the banks of the River Towy, Ty Castell– now a four star guest-house – opens its doors to weekenders, rural explorers, nature and garden admirers. A warm welcome awaits all our guests. Ty Castell offers its visitors quality home made evening meals with comfort and facilities of a very high standard, with a genuinely friendly, informal and personal touch. The Breakfast/Dining Room is housed in a delightful conservatory that allows you to look out across the river Towy and beautiful gardens. Spend some time in the solitude and peace of this green, remote region – where dairy herds graze on some of the best grassland in the British Isles; where the peregrine, red kite and buzzard live; where campion thrives at the side of winding lanes; and where steam trains run on rails that thread through ancient Celtic woodland. What better base for your Welsh peregrinations than Ty Castell – the quiet guest-house where you will truly find a welcome in the valley. The Towy and Cothi Valleys are best known as areas of outstanding beauty, brimming with lakes and legends. They offer a diversity of interests and activities to the visitor. ... more   less
