We stayed here for one night while walking the Middle Rhein. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, giving us extra advice about the route for our next days walk. The rooms were very well appointed, with modern decor and a great stylish bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided in room, which is extremely rare in Germany! Dinner... More

We were staying in the accommodation across the road from the hotel. We were quite excited when seeing the outside as it is a very beautiful traditional building but the inside is very shabby and basic, it felt a bit like a hostel. The hotel itself was very nice, the staff were friendly and the food was tasty.

This hotel is convenient, nothing more, nothing less. The rooms are quite outdated and the some furnitures should be replaced. However, this staff is friendly and even if they do not speak English, they will try to do their best to help you. The restaurant's food is better and they even have meals with their own animals. The parking is... More

Thank you for your review! You might have seen that there have been a lot of renewings in the hotel e.g. the conservatory and the beergarden. We are afraid that it is not possible to do and afford it all at once :(. But we have started working on the rooms again in September and renewed also furniture and bathroom.... More

This is a great little inn located in a nice wee town that lacks the tack of other Rhine villages. Our room was spotless with the added bonus of tea making facilities - a rare enough thing on the continent. The hosts were helpful and genial but it was the food that stole the show. In a word - excellent!... More

We drove up the Rhein castle watching and wanted a place to stay. Koblenz is the obvious place if you are headed back down the Mosul, but we wanted something different. The Roter Ochse was in the perfect location and nearby two castles. Rhens isn't much (although it looks like they are trying to invigorate it); but it's a nice... More

Our school's annual trip to Germany is fortunate to stay at the Hotel Roter Ochse in Rhens. The hotel is perfect for our staff and students, it is clean, safe and has excellent provisions - including TVs and en-suite bathrooms. The town of Rhens is great for our students too, and the hotel is a short walk to the river... More

We booked one night at the Roter Ochse, as part of a European road trip, following a personal recommendation from friends. We were advised to expect a friendly family run hotel, with good food. That is exactly what we got! We slept in a large room that was in the main building, and slept so well we would have stayed... More

Highly recommended family-run hotel - more like a Gasthaus. While the rooms are functional and rather bland, the food was very good and a great breakfast was provided. Werner (owner and/or manager) speaks excellent English and was very helpful during our stay. It is a perfect location on the Rhine and convenient to many sites in the area. A far... More
