Hvaing stayed here as a student 12 years ago and enjoyed it so much, I wanted to return with my husband. We were quoted a price of £85 for a double room which I thought was a bit much for a youth hostel so instead we paid £15 for shared bunk bed accommodation (single sex rooms). The youth hostel is a stunning castle with beautiful views of Loch Lomond. Nothing seems to have changed in the 12 years since I was last there. We did not use the catering facilities although the kitchen was spotlessly clean and seemed very good. Instead we ate at one of the Cameron House Hotel restaurants (located a 10 min walk away) - The Boat House. This was wonderful in every way - attentive, friendly staff, excellent menu choice and beautiful decor.
The Youth Hostel has internet access which is priced at £1 for ten minutes. It also has laundry facilities and these are priced at £2 for a wash. My only complaint is that in the morning there seemed to be a lack of hot water and so I had to have a... more
