Lunch and Dinner menu gave us great choices and the food prepared by Alex was outstanding. The restaurant and pub were beautifully decorated. The rooms were exceptionally clean, but could use an update with decor. Overall great service and if I were to return to area would definatley stay again.

I was concerned at first that my room would be cold as it was such a miserable night and the radiator apparently has a mind of its own, but Jean popped up and put the oil filled radiator on for me. Its that sort of personal touch that made staying at The Admiral Rodney so pleasant and easy. The room... More

Visited as just a drop in and finding us a table was not an issue even tho most all the tables had reserved on them. The guy that met us on entering was lovely and welcoming, the lady that took our order was friendly and informative, and the girls waiting on the tables were sweet. The pub itself was welcoming,... Having stopped off for a snack lunch this week. We got on to the subject of animal welfare. John the chef/proprietor took the trouble to come and sit with us to explain were they bought all their meats & poultry from. He even gave a letter to us from Compassion in world Farming offering him their award. I just want... More

This pub has had a checkered history..it was my local for over thirty years and has had a variety of patrons, but at last it has a chef worthy of the building. Called in last week for a bite to eat and wow what a treat ! My husband had the midweek curry which was expertly spiced to his request... More

Wow what a meal! I had the prawns with chilli and garlic as a starter followed by the duck with puy lentils, absolutely marvellous! Together with the great Malbec it was great. My wife had the portobello mushrooms followed by the roast cod equally great. The service was efficient overseen by our hostess Jean. We are so lucky to have... More

This place thinks they are too good for their clients. We were a large party. We had pre-booked our meal, on a Friday night before a wedding. Unfortunately, 2 of our party were delayed. We told them this on arrival - but they couldn't organise for this food to be cooked later. They just served it with all the other... More

A slightly disingenuous review, unfortunate really, you had booked for 7.00/7.30, when the majority of your party arrived (at 8.00) you - or the organiser told us you would be 2 less, - no problem; we cried. later when you actually decided to sit down - 8.30 we were informed that you would like your "missing" guests food to be... Monday night, didn't expect it to busy but there were six tables. Really friendly efficient staff. Plenty of choice on the menu and a specials board. Food service was quick and whitebait starter looked great, served in a little chip pan! Main courses again served quickly. Plenty of space, nice garden and fabulous views over the countryside. It's not the... More

Stayed here for two nights bed and breakfast and it was great. We had the snug room which wasn't small at all. The bathroom was large and even had a bidet. All the usual toiletries and bathroom supplies were available, the king sized bed was really comfortable and it was quiet when the pub had closed. A great breakfast and... More

A lovely 4 night break, good sized room and en suite, very comfortable and clean. Delicious breakfast, all freshly cooked, including the homemade bread for toast. 3 evening meals enjoyed - all excellent.
