Myself and my husband stayed here recently for a friends wedding. When we arrived we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and shown straight up to our room. The room we stayed in was clean and very large, plenty of space to get ready for a wedding! There was a lovely choice of herbel teas, tea and coffee in... More

We recently stayed here for a wedding and were delighted with our stay. Struan and Jenny were very helpful to ensure everyone in our party were comfortable and had anything they needed. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The hot breakfast each morning was freshly prepared to order and done to perfection. They also serve cold cereals, coffee, tea... More

The warmest of welcomes; a house of character full of interesting objects; a wonderfully spacious room and facilities; quiet, peaceful setting and splendid breakfast taken round a big table in the delightful breakfast room. We'd been walking a stage of the Wall and arrived earlier than expected so had a good lunch at the next-door Brewery. Mein host ferried us... More

We had a warm welcome by Stuart and Jenny on arrival. High House is situated on a quiet and remote location. Although we had our own cars with us they offered a ride to the Chinese Restaurant. A Clean room and a good bathroom. We had a good rest and in the morning they served a tasteful breakfast with fresh... More

The mattress needs a replacement. Everything else is just fantastic. Jenny and her husband are an amazing hosts. Breakfast was delicious! Easy walk from the Robin Hood pub where you can get a nice dinner.

This was our first stop when walking Hadrian's wall. Struan and Jenny kindly stored out bags which we dropped off a day early, whilst we spent time in Newcastle. Our room was enormouse with a large ensuite containing a bath. The room had many interesting features and furniture which added to the ambience. The bed did have a soft mattress... More

The bed could do with a replacement of the mattress. The present mattress - as another reviewer already stated - must date from Emperor Hadrian's time. It is an impertinence for any walker who needs a good night's sleep after a long walk. Breakfast was fine, a homebaked bred was a treat.

We loved the place. It would have got 5 stars if some of the fixtures and fittings had been in a bit of a better condition. That being said, it was perfectly comfortable and our hosts went out of their way to accomodate us. They even closed two of the five rooms so we could all have a private bathroom!... More
