Bandarawela Hotel is a Heritage Hotel and we enjoyed our stay to the maximum. Though our stay in the Hotel was for a night, we cherished our stay. This hotel exists since 1893 and continues to keep the Charm with the old design Cots, switches etc and we loved to see them all. It was fantastic to stay here An... More

The Bandarawela hotel has always been a favourite! I remember it from whenever I can remember! Probably from 55 years ago and it hasn't changed much! That is a huge compliment! It has kept its colonial charm and is a very special place to visit! If you're visiting Sri Lanka and touring, you should seriously consider a night here! Wonderful... More

we stayed at this hotel for just one night in November 2014, arriving after a morning walk on Horton Plain where we were soaked to the skin, followed by a train journey to Banderawela. We were tired and cold when we arrived and the sight of a big roll top bath made our day. The room and decor are dated,... More

When my girlfriend and I arrived to Bandarawela Hotel (after a crazy tuktuk ride from Hatton) it was raining heavily. The hotel did not give a great first impression with multiple leaks and many water pits inside. The staff tried to dry up the leakage, but there was no disguising that the hotel needs an upgrade. Another thing that disappointed... More

Dear Valued Guest, Greetings from Bandarawela Hotel ! We thank you for your review of Bandarawela Hotel and your time spared to post same. Nice old hotel which has a lot of history and charm. We visited during the staff Christmas party and it was great to see the staff celebrating with their families. The local food was excellent yet the western food was average. The location is nice and close to the center of town. Would stay here again.

We recently stayed in the hotel for two nights and it is great value for money. The hotel is an old colonial hotel so don’t go there expecting all the latest technology and gadgets. It is old fashioned and that is its charm. The bedroom had wonderful high ceilings with a ceiling fan which is more than enough in this... More

What a great Hotel !! Built I think in 1893 or thereabouts. Absolutely full of charm. My bedroom (Room 204 ) had about 20ft (6mt) ceilings,a huge bed with mosquito net,a little room off to the side which might have originally been for servants, Bathroom had claw foot bath. But this is the real deal, not some hotel that has been... More

This is what our grandparents must have experienced (or even their parents), a hotel entirely with the atmosphere of say 80 years ago. Everything here is old, but in the good sense of the word. The lounge and bar give you the impression the colonials must have had. An old fireplace, couches and comfy seats are the scene in the... More

This is a great place. The hotel is a hundred of meters or so from the very untouristy centre of Bandarawela, and about sixty years away. The exterior oozes colonial elegance, and inside is just the same- you step into another era. Room are old-fashioned, but very comfortable (the bathrooms are throwbacks to the 1950s, but none the worse for... More
