To walk into this hotel is to take a step back in time. It still maintains its' colonial heritage, and proudly at that. It is conveniently located in the Bandarawela town, just two minutes walk from the town center. The hotel has been the same in quality of service and food each of the 4 times we stayed here. The... Our stay at 'one of the oldest colonial hotels' was highly worth for what we spent. The staff was very friendly, kind and helpful. GM goes to each and every table during lunch/dinner and speaks to guests. Its a home away from home. Very clean rooms, toilet/washrooms are upgraded to higher standard. Food was so tasty & clean. An enjoyable... More

Stayed at this Hotel on a tour and it was an enjoyable on the basis that it is a step back in time to the colonial error and should be appreciated for what it is. Therefore the rooms aren't that modern and there is a large old bath (with shower) while the washbasin is outside near the bed area. Have... More

The Bandarawela Hotel provides us a lovely glimpse of the colonial era. Such lovely architecture. It must be appreciated that they have provided access to Persons with Disabilities within such an old structure. Wheelchair access is from the back of the hotel and almost the entirety of the hotel is accessible once you come in. But there seems to be... More

It was our first visit to the legendary Bandarawela Hotel and it was a lovely experience. This is a lovely hotel in the heart of the Bandarawela town, and is popular among locals and tourists. The colonial atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is extremely good. Bandarawella Hotel is a trip back to Sri Lanka's Colonial past with facilities and rooms that are out of the early to mid 1900's. The positives are that you do feel like you are living in that era in Sri Lanka while you are staying and find yourself thinking about all that this would have entailed. The building is amazing... Very good service and colonial experience. Built in 1899 by british in the city of Bandarawela. Very old heritage and nice place to rest and enjoy. One of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka. Very happy stay.
