Very quiet, in the middle of the bandarawela town. Has a stately feel due to its unchanged colonial architecture. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very old fashioned, not for those after luxury. Food is not exciting, very similar and bland. though I suppose when compared to the other places around bandarawela, may be well to do. A good place... More

This place was a must for my relatives in the 1930s-1950s to visit so I had to see it. The smell of antiques and beeswax and old wood is amazing, as are al the old artefacts. The food and service was charming and I hope it picks up more business.

This hotel is the best of the 2 hotels in the town. It's an old building but has interesting displays of old artefacts and pictures from the buildings previous owners. Our room was small and the bathroom was in need of modernisation. The food was OK but nothing special. We only stayed here as a stop off point on a... More

I stayed at Bandarawella Hotel last Noember and again this month. I was there 3 nights and the place amazes me. So relaxing !Being owned by one of the travel companies,it gets it's share of tour buses, but this does not detract from the individual attention given to all guests. The food choices are a bit limited, but the quality of food and... I was lucky that my GPS insisted that the hotel was very close as I would never have guess that said was up on a “private road”. And let me say that the room I had was very much below my normal standard and not worth the money paid. But it is a very old and very nice hotel. The... More

Nice colonial style hotel, room with an old English style, beds and mattress quite old, service very efficient , and maybe the best in town !!!! Because Bandarawela is the door to go to Lipton's seat and to see the tea plantations, but if you are not really interested on the tea plantation , no need to pass by. The... More

A charming throwback to a more genteel age. How dare reviewers suggest it needs updating - they miss the point completely. The staff here are excellent and do the hotel great credit. Enjoyed the food and the general ambience of the dining room, and absolutely LOVED the bar! The hotel is clean and very well-preserved, and is a must-stay if... More

We stayed here on Valentines night and were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Presidential Suite. This was very spacious with a lounge area (with fresh flowers), a very large bedroom and huge bathroom including a 6 foot long bath. The style of the hotel has been preserved with original features and memorabilia. It smells of beeswax, lovely! There... More

I am writing this on the cool & peaceful veranda overlooking a small garden in this charming hotel. Full on colonial hotel with lovely mementos and photos from a bygone era- our two days here have been wonderful. Staff are unpretentious but charming and the hotel is spotlessly clean and everything you would expect from an old colonial hotel -... More
