This Wildlife Retreat is exactly what its website and other reviewers say it is – an interesting collection of native Australian animals. We got a glimpse of some of them during our 3-week holidays in Australia (e.g., dead wombat by the side of the road, a pair of red eyes flew across the trees at night) but only in here... More

Close to the great ocean road and in the middle of the Otway's, Fauna Australia is absolutely a place to stay for anyone who wants to approach the local wildlife. it's NOT a zoo, and the "farm" is only reserved for those who're sleeping there. Koalas, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Birds, Bats, possums, deer, pony, sheep, etc... etc... And without forgetting... More

if you like to see native animals up close, this is the place. We had a short stay in Wombat cottage. Master double bed is really comfy with warm blanket. We come early spring but it was really "winter" cold (for us, coming from the hot country) when we arrived. Kristen was kind to put the heater on before our... More

For a family with young kids, this place was a perfect place to stay and get up close and personal with all our Australia's native animals. 6 months later and we're still talking about it! Best part was wandering the grounds at night, seeing all the nocturnal animals come ALIVE. It was so freaky - but cool! Thanks to our... More

We were travelling around with a group of Volkswagen enthusiasts and stayed for a night at the Fauna Park. You must stay as a guest to get involved with the animals. Accomodation is basic but o.k. The owners are great people. Checking out and feeding all the saved animals was a real treat. It would not be very interesting if... More

Thanks for your personal attitude, understanding and help in every respect (laundry etc). You took a lot of effort and time to teach us new things about the Australian fauna and we could even give a milk bottle to Vilma - the wombat baby. Sehr empfehlenswert um australische Tiere, auch solche, die man nicht oder nur schwer in freier Wildbahn... More

I took my mum here while she was on her first visit to Australia as I though it would be a good place for her to experience native Australian animals and we were not disappointed. The accommodation was basic but cosy, comfortable and warm although that is not why we stayed here. It was all about the animals. We were... More

This is a great family-run down to earth experience. Initially I was unsure when we arrived - but the whole place seriously grew on me. The kids had a wonderful time and chatting with Kirsten & Dean was equally as great. They know so much about the animals and were genuinely interested in the well being of their animals. The... We went there hoping to catch the glow worms at Melba Gully, a five minute drive away. The retreat is very well located for this purpose. The four of us were happily roomed in the Wombat Cottage which is small but sufficient and also warm with the heater on in the winter. The cottage has a well equipped kitchenette and... More

I wish I had time for a long review, but this is just a note to say that my wife and I loved staying at this retreat. We stayed in Wombat cottage for 2 nights, and felt it was very nice, and good value for money. Being able to walk around (or sneak around at night) feeding carrots to the... More
