This hotel is beautifully positioned, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside from one side. We booked two nights' accommodation for our daughter's wedding, All the wedding arrangements went very well, the food was delicious, staff helpful, and the whole event went very smoothly. The rooms were comfortable, nicely furnished, and bathrooms modern and well equipped. However, we had to... more

We stayed for one night at The Maynard after Christmas for one night, to take a break with our daughter after the excesses of the festive season. On arrival we were excited as the hotel is a large gothic building overlooking beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Our room was a bit of a disappointment, as for the 150.00 price... more

Enjoyed our 1 night stay lovely views from our bedroom, nice room and bathroom. Evening meal very good just enough choice to allow for excellent cooking. Breakfast was probably one of the most disappointing factors, but overall a lovely hotel with good service more

We needed somewhere to stay on our way back home so emailed a few hotels in the area that morning. Whilst the Maynard was not the cheapest, we liked the look of the website so confirmed the booking. Unfortunately, we arrived later than anticipated and missed dinner, which was unfortunate as I have a feeling the evening meal would have... more

I booked one night in the Suite room (14) as a surprise for my partner's birthday. I was very pleasantly surprisd myself when we arrived and I saw the room for the first time - it had a really luxurious feel to it, was huge, had brilliant decor, a freestanding bath, double sinks, a huge plasma TV screen and amazing... more

Stayed here for one night on business and was given an upgrade to the top floor suite and a discount on the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was fabulous. Couple of little could do betters whilst the restaurant food was good the chick peas that formed the base layer of my main course were... more

I booked a night here for a short getaway with my boyfriend. I loved the funky style and decor in the hotel. We stayed in a standard room which was smallish but comfortable and had a nice big bathroom. We had dinner in the restuarant, which was superb. The menu isn't huge but everything is freshly prepared and excellent quality.... more

The maynards owner (?) has clearly spent a lot of money in trying to turn the place into a trendy boutique hotel. Our suite had a huge flat screen tv on the wall, trendy furniture, a large stand alone bath as well as a shower/toilet room and twin wash basins.the view from our windows were very picturesqe. This was all very good... more

We booked our wedding here and had the reception on august bank holiday weekend 2008. 23rd August 2008. The day could not have gone any better, the staff were really helpful, especially the wedding co-ordinator Carly Montisci who ensured that everything ran smoothly upto and including the big day. The venue is stunning and the refurb that it has had,... more

We booked 3 nights at the Maynard, based on recent reviews here and the fact that it had been recently refurbished. PROS: The location is good with Chatsworth House, Matlock Bath etc a relatively short drive away. Also very close to Curbar - stone cliff formation with good views. Food at the bar is good. Breakfast good aswell. Continental included... more
