Set in the heart of the Cotswolds the location, decor and food were lovely. The pub is really a restaurant with not much of an area for drinkers. I would have rated it as five star but for one major problem. The matre'd . All the other staff were very friendly and welcoming but this guy. He made us feel... More

Visited here at the weekend with family, nothing too much for the staff s they moved table and chairs to accommodate us all after we found table we sat in had no sun shade. Courtyard is lovely and sundown backed looked amazing with white trailing flowers. Fish and chips was delicious and not greasy, pork belly apparently amazing and squid... More

We took pot luck on having dinner here, based on an old (2010?) 'Good Pub Guide' review. Welcomed professionally from the start and quickly seated with drinks, we found the service charming and efficient, the menu good and the ambience warm and inviting. The food arrived in good time and was all as promised (and anticipated!). Though not cheap, our... More

We booked the Village Pub for my sister in laws 50th birthday celebration and were very impressed from the moment we walked in! We were given a room off the main bar as we were a party of 10 which was truly wonderful......long table, soft seating the one side and chairs along the other side and tasteful decor and lighting... High hopes heading here. More of a restaurant than a gastro pub; not inexpensive but the setting and relaxed casual luxury works very well. The service was a bit slow for my taste but when it was available it was very good... Slightly tighter and this would be excellent

This pub is a nice building in a lovely part of the country. Inside is very well presented with comfortable seating, pleasant adornments and fire. The food was excellent and I will certainly be back when I come back to the Cotswolds.

We were a group of 13 who recently dined at The Village Pub. Firstly, it's a beautiful old building in a lovely location. The table was booked weeks in advance - Rachel was very helpful. We arrived about 5 minutes late but had to wait 15 minutes as the table wasn't ready. We were asked to order drinks at the... More

Went to the the Village Pub with some colleagues for a friendly and informal dinner on a Monday evening recently. Stepping out of the taxi we were greeted by the reassuring smell of wood burning fires, and ducked inside this pretty 5 AA star cotswold stone restaurant. Friendly, attentive staff looked after us very well throughout the evening. Despite it... More

We booked this in advance for a stopover travelling back from Wales to the East of England, and warned them that we would be late arriving - probably between 10.30 and 11.30 pm. They said they would leave a note but if the Pub was locked up, to go across the road to Barnsley House (part of the same group)... More

Went there to have some light lunch. The parking area quite big. The pub is very clean and cosy. I had the soup of the day which serve with loaf of handmade bread. It was lovely. The service was really good and quick.Defo going back there again soon to try some other food.
