First of all the best things the rooms were superbly appointed with excellent fittings and linen and a sizeable flat screen TV. Now the issues. Whenever a pub becomes a hotel/pub then the reception is usually the bar. And so we had to wait 10 minutes whilst the completely hapless and inexperienced bar maid attempted to meet the requirements of... More

We went our ladies club about 18 of us. No water on the table. We weren't offered drinks before the meal was served which was practically before we'd all sat down. Several of us agreed the food was terrible. I complained to the waitress that my steak burger was burnt and she couldn't have cared less. NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED.... More

... so I guess we are satisfied with it :) which we are. We have stayed in four of the 5 en suite rooms and all are pretty similar except the ground floor ones which are stone floors with rugs whilst upstairs they have carpets. Downstairs have bigger bathrooms. The rooms have always been very clean and we have had... More

We stayed here while we were walking the Thames Path. The criteria for the booking was that the path went past the front door of this pub, so no added miles to our journey! It was such a bonus to find that I had booked a flourishing, bustling gem of a place. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our room... More

We stayed over New Years travelling with our indoor cat, and had a super stay. NY eve, the Cricklade was offering a closed music and dining event in the pub.. which we joined at the last minute thanks to the kindness of the owner. The food was beyond amazing, lots of local friendly people and the whole evening was just... More

There is no downside. The service is personal and friendly. The food is great. The beer is very, very good. And the accommodation is great. This is a real find and I will be back for sure. This is definitely one to make a point of visiting and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Booked here with a slight degree of desparation as I had been unable to extend a stay elsewhere to a third night and almost everywhere else I tried to book was already full. To make life a little simpler I booked into the Red Lion's restaurant for dinner as well as into the hotel for the overnight room. First impressions... More

Starters were small and the crayfish a joke. I had to shell it myself and then the 'meat' inside was pathetic, hardly a crayfish salad. The vegetables were cold and the gravy was luke warm and extremely watery. The beef was very fatty and minimal portions. All in all very disappointing.

Good, large sized, twin room overlooking the courtyard (room 4). We were up very, very early the next morning (4.30am!) so they had brought us a breakfast tray to have in our room before we departed. Room was a bit warm - not sure why as the radiator wasn't on - but other than that great room. Very friendly staff,... More
