We stopped at the Red Lion on a Thames Path walk and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, comfortable and very attractive. We had a pizza from the outdoor oven made with local salami for dinner and a fine English breakfast the next morning before setting off on the next stage of... More

Living in Cricklade, the Red Lion used to be the pub my family and I would visit on a fairly regular basis. Unfortunately the attitude of the Landlady is fair from enticing. To say that she is precious about things would be an understatement! About 18 of us were sitting in the pub on Wednesday 22nd October, some of which... More

Forget your big fancy hotels and characterless global brands, nothing beats a traditional English Inn. They cost less and usually provide a vastly better service (usually!). The Red Lion is up there with the best. It blends local pub, restaurant and Inn with such harmony. Last night, we had me a business traveller, a couple walking along the Thames, the... More

We arrived at the first leg of the Thames path and were made immediate welcome. Our room (1) was excellent with nice smellies etc in the very large bathroom. Moving into the bar the room was busy but it gave the pub great atmosphere. It seemed a mix of locals plus people waiting to move into the restaurant. The selection... More

Nice pub but Sunday lunch was miserly portion of beef and few veg, which for fourteen quid is dreadful. When it says "rare beef" it's not supposed to be because there's not much of it. Great beer, just don't go for Sunday lunch.

We got off to a bad start - the Red Lion has no car park, and car parking in Cricklade High Street is a game of musical spaces at some times of day/week. We finished up carrying our luggage all the way from the off-street car park at the other end of the High Street, so already frayed on arrival...... More

Lovely pub and they have their own brewery on site, the beer is worth tasting. We were in room 3 and it was lovely and light and airy, with a large bathroom. We didn't eat dinner there, but breakfast was good, the restaurant looked more like a breakfast room than an intimate restaurant, although the tables in the bar looked... More

Stayed here for one night on business. Excellent room, large and airy with nice decor. Very comfortable bed. Lovely food and a great breakfast. Helpful, cheerful staff. Will come back with my partner for a weekend.

We spent two nights here with a group of friends. Our room was huge with a huge bed and well fitted out with all the necessaries and a large bathroom. Although it opened directly out onto the beer garden, we were not disturbed by noise on either night. The ceiling was quite low and the fake fibreglass beams seemed rather... More

We stayed at the Red Lion for a weekend as part of a wedding party. Our twin room was spacious, comfortable and clean. It was great to see the detailed information given on the menu, such as where all the food is sourced etc. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pub area has a pleasant beer garden area...
