I recently went for a long lunch at the Pilot Boat Inn following a recommendation from a friend. I had a crab ramekin followed by fish and chips and it was all delicious - fresh and local fish and great portion sizes! The staff were amazing - so friendly and funny. I also loved the new wood burner which looked... More

I am an islander who brought visiting family to eat here back in January, we were very pleased with with food and service but since returning to the pub this week with work colleagues it's a shame to say we were all very disappointed and feel the quality of food has really gone down hill. A huge shame for the... More

Really strange review! I've been here all week and we have not as far as I'm aware had any work groups in!! W e have however had a record week, over 30% up on same week year before. I imagine this is a review from a competitor jealous of our success, we get a lot of this, sad really but... More

A group of us ate here recently and it was to be honest a bit under whelming , we all felt the restaurant area was really cramped, all the tables feel on top of each other, not enough room to even walk round them and feel too close to the tables next to you. We all thought the menu was... More

Bit unfair, yes it is a bit cramped at times, but that is because we are so popular!! And we are so popular because we are so good!! Food wise, we are a pub, and the food is all home made, fresh and local, and priced accordingly! We serve big portions, all ancillaries (chips, veg, sauces) all come within the price,... More

Stayed here whilst cycling round the island. There is an outbuilding where bikes can be locked up securely overnight. They also hire out electric bikes which, if we didn't already have a reasonable distance to ride under our own steam, I would have loved to try out. Friendly welcome from George and his team Rooms are modern and nicely decorated.... More

We spent a couple of nights at the Pilot Boat over a weekend in April. There are only five guest rooms and these have apparently been recently renovated. Our room overlooked the road and we were a little concerned that we would hear a lot of traffic noise, but in the event this was not a problem. The room was... More

I recently walked the coastal path around the Isle of Wight intending to camp along the way. However I arrived rather late into Ryde on my first day and it was almost getting dark by the time I arrived in Bembridge. As I figured that I would not make it to the campsite on the other side of town I... More

A lovely little cosy quiet room above a fantastic pub. Great friendly service and nice breakfast in the morning. Apart from breakfast we didnt have a chance to eat there, but had a few pints in evening and it was reasonbly priced, friendly and busy.

Fantastic young staff welcomed us showed us to table and even took drinks order. Much better than having to go to the bar to order your food made it more personal. Food was served quickly but would have been worth waiting for as was best fish and scampi we had tasted in years. Chips were large but perfectly cooked. Nice... More

We came to the Pilot Boat based on a recommendation and we're expecting a high quality crab sandwich. This we duly received, but unfortunately with the heating broken and being out of season, I felt that the welcome left something to be desired. If they were to improve the seating and fix the heating, I would give this place a... More

The heating is not broken, I think we may just not have switched it on because it is so warm out, but I do agree a nip gets into the air at evening time and we usually light out new log burner which before we know it gets everyone complaining it is too hot!!! Anyway apologies for the cold interior... More

The accommodation has been transformed and although the pub may at first glance appear to be a bit of a gimmick, the stay was excellent. The 4 or 5 rooms have been decorated beautifully with good linen and nice en-suite shower rooms. There is a separate access so no need to go through the pub once checked in. We stayed... More
