If you're looking for somewhere nice with good food on a Saturday night (or any other night) this is NOT the place to go! We weren't expecting anything fancy, just decent food, good service at a reasonable price. We got none of these! The pub/inn appears to have been recently refurbished or at least redecorated, and they're either going for... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Our first impressions when we stepped into the pub were good but not so when we saw our room. It looked tired- the curtains and net curtains were dirty. The bed was rock hard, the duvet was a cheap synthetic one and the heating did not work- lucky for us it was not a... More

I have to disagree with the negative comments made about the Oak, this was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were great from the moment we walked in, our room was spotless and welcoming, the breakfasts set us up for the day - didn't even need a snack at lunch time whilst out and about.... More

Stayed here about eight times over the past three years or so. I USED TO regularly recommended it to people, for it's food, it's customer service, it's cleanliness, it's rooms and it's general friendliness. I have no idea what's changed, other than the inside of the pub being refitted (very shabbily in some places) but the last two occasions we've... More

Having stayed at The Oak on several occasions we were looking forward to seeing the refurbishments that had been undertaken. Well, we were not disappointed ! It looks fabulous and Chris and Gayle have done an amazing job. While still retaining the cosy, friendly atmosphere, there is now a fresh, updated feel and yes, it remains very dog friendly ! The... Went for a night out with the girls. There was a live band which was actually really good. Recently been refurbished and looks so nice! Bar staff were very friendly. Been here before for a meal and was very very yummy. Definitely recommend this lovely place!

At a loose end in the bad weather we pulled in for a drink, found it freshly refurbished, comfortable and friendly place, we ended up staying for dinner. Food was great for very reasonable price. Good to see a dog friendly place also.

My husband and I used to love going to this place, but since they have had a refurbish we are not sure if we will be using this place as much as we used to. The place does not give us that warm and homely feel no more like it used to, the portion sizes to the meals are a... More
