We arrived to find the whole high street boarded up as the ancient ball game, from the time of King John was being played which involved scrumming for a giant leather ball up and down the street. That was exciting The pub/hotel welcomed our dog and the young lady on reception was delightful. But the room on the ground floor... More

My husband booked the Red Lion hotel at short notice, they were offering a special valentines meal package of 2 courses and a bottle wine. The food was excellent and it was a very good bottle of Red. We stay over, the room although small was very good and had everything you needed and more. The breakfast again was excellent, wide choice... More

The food here was absolutely awful - dripping with grease (literally). They also forgot to send two of our party's checks to the kitchen, so they got their food well after everyone else. I am a terrible cook, and could have produced a better meal than this place offered. Nice building though and we were in a pleasant place next... More

Was so happy with this hotel, it had so much character. The food prices were very good value and the staff were fabulous. We actually stayed here for a murder mystery night, which I was the only person to guess right! We also took friends and as I was in charge of the booking I was so pleased at how... More

I popped in here over Christmas after a walk for lunch. I couldn't fault the service or the prices. They were very busy, but the staff coped really well. They had some lovely local ales with a reasonable choice available. Well worth a visit.

I checked in every Monday and checked out every Friday from July to December 2014. The cost is very reasonable and the food very good. I got a corporate rate for working at a major local company. Whilst I only used the main hotel rooms 3 or 4 times the serviced Capello rooms next door were more than adequate. The... More

This year for the first time I booked a Christmas Day lunch for myself and my husband at the Atherstone Red Lion Hotel, Long Street, Atherstone, Warwickshire. I have to say that it was wonderful. From the time we were met on arrival until the time we left, the service was excellent. The meal itself was absolutely delicious - my... More

As others have mentioned, parking consists of a narrow car park around the back that can take about 10 cars and can be tight to manoeuvre for larger cars. There's a walk through a glass-enclosed courtyard dining area into reception, which is at the end of the bar. During my check-in there had been some error in which my reservation... More

Booked in here as it looked nice online. when we arrived we booked in only to find someone else had been booked in that room. We were given another room and on entering the door wouldn't fully open as it banged against the bed. That aside we left our luggage and went down for dinner and drinks. The food was... More

I stayed at the Red Lion for 4 nights recently. The atmosphere was very oldy worldy and christmassy. It was very welcoming, especially when the lovely gas fire was lit. The central conservatory is beautiful. The twin room we booked was spacious and comfortable. A kettle and tea were provided. The food in the hotel restaurant was very nice. The... More
