The atrium, lobby and bar areas are quite nice and welcoming, good choice of drinks and food. The Staff are all very pleasant and helpful although occasionally hard to find when you need something. The rooms however are in dire need of updating. The wall mounted TV in my room didn't work at all and when trying to find the... More

The Red Lion Atherstone. Excellent first impressions clean tidy well presented public areas The rooms are very clean and comfortable all the usual fittings, a good TV coffee and tea making and a nice bathroom. There is an excellent room for disabled guests large comfortable and in the ground floor. The bonus is it is just a few yards from... More

We were told on check in that breakfast was included in the price and so we took it in the morning (very good breakfast). We got our bill on checkout and breakfast had been added on to the bill. On querying this we were told it was 'just on there and we wouldn't be charged'. On checking my credit card... More

Absolutely crap is the only way to describe this farce of a hotel. We've just arrived home after an evening spent there to attend a friends wedding reception. The restaurant and food was absolutely average and being woken up throughout the entire night just added to our disappointment. No one seemed to know what they were doing, check in took... More

Probably my fourth stay in four years but this time it seemed so much better. A last minute booking on the spur of the moment saw me in the suit normally reserved for the disabled. It was clean well arranged and comfortable, very comfortable and the duvet was not too thick for the warm night. Staff were engaging and conversational... More

Staying in the area around Atherstone we have visited the Red Lion hotel quite often in the last few months. This is a hotel which has a bistro and also serves coffee and meals, including a Sunday carvery. There is a large conservatory with comfy seating and free wifi. We're always happy spend some time there and meet friends. The... More

It's been a while since I ate in the restaurant...the actual Hotel restaurant and not Capellas, the Italian one attached (see previous reviews from me on this place and see the owner of the hotel/restaurants does not seem to believe in staff training) I have recommended the actual hotel to several people and those who stayed were happy, but the food and... We arrived at the red lion hotel on a Saturday for a wedding. We were rushed due to wedding times and therefore dumped our stuff In the room and left. Our first impression of the room was how small it was however it seemed adequate. We returned from the wedding, went up to our room, and we were greeted with... More

food was very disappointing. The starter of soup was a nice flavour but needed passing. very string and lots of lumps in it, main, chicken and roast potatoes were very dry, chicken was cold. Dessert was the best part... but was bought in. The room... well... booked a room at the red lion... not Capellos which is where we ended... More
