Selecting a venue for our gentlemen's gourmet club (DBDC - Dordogne Boyz Dining Club) is always a challenge, as qualitiy and ingenuity of the cuisine as well as the enviornment in which the food is served play a decisive role. The Bastide des Trémières run by the Dutch owner Kiek van Kempen was a perfect choice. The Bastide consists of... More

Kiek is a model of a host, receiving you in her charming old home with all the modern luxurious commodities. The feeling of relief and freedom you have when after a good night sleep, you open the blinds to this admirable landscape of hills and vineyards of the Bergerac region. This place is one of a kind, king beds and... More

It is a little hard to find at first. Turn uphill at the Pharmacy at the edge of town (there is a tiny sign there) Once you find it as you drive in the drive you feel that you have really arrived in true France. The house has undergone extensive remodeling and the owner is a gem. The rooms are... More

We spent three wonderful days at La Bastide des Tremieres in early June 2014. From the first peek of that beautiful 16th century home as we drove down the drive on Friday evening to our bittersweet goodbye on Monday night, our visit was an incredible experience of relaxation, luxury, and adventure. Here are the basics... Our room was charming, immaculate,... More

With an amazing view from the terrace, I knew as soon as we arrived this was going to be a special place. Perched high up with views that reach for miles, rolling green lawns, a glorious terrace offering shaded eating areas and a crystal clear blue pool, La Bastide sure was a welcome few days of perfect tranquility. Our room... More

We spent a week at La Bastide. The house has been beautifully restored, keeping features like the stone wall in the dining room, the fireplaces, wooden beams and wooden floors (that do creak a bit). The room was spacious with an expansive view overlooking the vineyards and forests. The bed was very, very comfortable and we found ourselves sleeping longer... More

We arrived at Kiek's (van Kempen) delightful place after 3 flights and a drive from Australia. She welcomed us so warmly, gave us a wonderful meal and settled us into a large ground floor room with private entrance, sitting area and fully equipped kitchenette. Such a wonderful introduction to this part of the Dordogne. Kiek was really helpful suggesting places... More

My husband and I just stayed for the second time at Kiek van Kampen's charming 16th century B&B conveniently located an hour from Bordeaux and on the doorstep of the best of the Dordogne attractions. It is such a peaceful setting among vineyards and overlooking the valley. Relaxing by the salt-water, solar-heated pool or curling up with a book on... More

Staying at La Bastide des Tremieres was like being in a beautiful, fairy tale ! The complete experience far surpassed our expectations and the lovely pictures. Kiek enhanced our stay in the area by arranging for dinner reservations at some wonderful nearby restaurants and sharing valuable advice. We slept superbly and Kiek's coffee and breakfast was the best. If you... More
