The room was very large and clean. We had the same breakfast every day - and we stayed there seven days :( The swimming pool was closed "due to technical problems" - we liked the fact that somebody from the hotel gave us a phonecall 2-3 days before getting there to announce this and to tell that we will have... This place is one of my favorite memories of Italy, the staff were so friendly and wiling to help out and chat with us, I loved using this place as a home in between all the cities we were visiting. Its not a exciting resort, but its a small beautiful and charming place to stay and within the town you... More

Old, noisy (a wedding place in the facility), minimal and very uncomfortable rooms. The worst breakfasts we ever experienced... Really unbelievable... but the worst part were the employees of the hotel... especially when we dared to complain... never encounter anything similar... We choose it mainly because of the photos of the swimming pool... Well it was closed... for a LONG... More

This is a georgeous hotel, it was the home of Duke Federico Medici about 500 years ago, absolutely magnificient, a great experience...We thought that the staff were a bit distant, except for the older gentleman who was on the desk when we arrived.

Booked here as we wanted to stay inbetween Pisa and Florence and this seemed like a good option for a couple of nights. When you first pull into the grounds, you can't help but think that it's quite a grand place. Huge archway leading to the gardens at the back, massive walls that make it look castle-like. We parked the... More

We stayed in Monsummano on the basis it was fairly equi-distant from both Pisa and Florence and we wanted to visit both. There is nothing to do Monsummano so I am glad we were only using it as a base/place to sleep. The hotel's exterior is castle-esq, and as the review below describes perfectly, a building this size requires a... More

Spent only one night here which was quite enough. The property is beautiful, with restored buildings and a large garden. Very charming from the outside. You quickly realise that it takes a big effort to maintain such a place in good condition therefore the interior is a bit shabby. Wasn't impressed by the room which is closer to a 3... More

We couldn't use the swimming pool of the hotel because of 'technical problems'. We had to go to a thermal pool called grotta giusti at 2 km from the hotel. The water there was too hot and not refreshing. It was very crowdy as well. Swimming was not possible. Without the swimming pool the hotel loses all its attractivity as... More

Located centrally between Pisa and Firenze/Florence, and a short drive away from Lucca and Pistoia, easily to Siena and across the Chianti region, the Residenza del Granduca hotel is in the right place geographically. Monsummano Terme however, sounds much nicer than it actually is. The hotel is a beautifully restored estate. The building is very nice. It has ample parking... More

Nice room, friendly welcome and very nice looking breakfast and dinner @ restaurant. But some remarks, dirty sheet of bed was nog changed but covered with a new sheet, breakfast was the same every morning, when fruit was empty, you couldn't get any new. Primi platta of our dinner was cold and as always it was pasta! So over all... More
