If you like mountain settings, wow this was perfect! The cabin I stayed in is nestled in the beautiful mountains just outside of Vilcabamba Ecuador. From my cabin looking down through the valley you could see and hear the rushing white waters of the Yambala River. The almost three months I stayed there I got to know Charlie and Sarah... More

If you want your street noise to be burros and birds, if you want your white noise for sleep to be a rushing river and if you want the stars for your night light…..this is your place! Locally it is known as Charlie’s Cabanas and Charlie and his wife Sarah couldn’t have been more accommodating hosts over the 3 months... More

Please read the whole review. We stayed for under a month at Cabanas Rio Yambala, known locally as 'Charilie's Cabanas'. Charlie and Sarah were helpful in finding a cabin when we had no other choices at the time. Basics: It was a small, rustic cabin with good views; clean inside, and there were some pots, pans, utensils, a propane stove,... More

If you want mindless Western Culture conveniences, then don't even bother visiting Vilcabamba let alone Cabanas Rio Yambala. If you want REAL life experience, pure peace, and a... More

We had a lovely relaxing two days here, the cabins seemed a little run down but the setting is fantastic with doors that open out onto a balcony looking over the valley. Use of the kitchen was very helpfull as it is a bit out of town but worth it. We recommend stocking up on some food on your way... More

delightful, original and out of the 'scene' in town, we came back fro the first time in 15 years and were pleased to find nothing had changed (lucky nowadays when revisiting old haunts can bring on tears). we stayed for a month, and would have stayed longer had we been able to change our flights. long stay prices were almost... I stayed in cabin #2 for close to three months and loved it. The cabin has a private bathroom and small but functional kitchen. It also has a porch/terrace overlooking the river with great views of the river valley. The bed is comfortable. I could open the big windows on the second level and watch the birds in the morning....
