It's perfect. We rented the Eagles Lair for a week. You get 2 separate, nicely built cabins, an outdoor kitchen and a nice clean bathroom with incredible shower all for $150/week. It can't be beat. It's about a 45 minute walk to town, or 3 dollar cab ride. It is peaceful, and perfect for reading in a hammock all day.... More

Recently we spent several weeks in the riverside cottage, on the road below Sarah and Charlie's other cabins, and about 50 feet from the Rio Yambala. We like leaving the towns behind, finding a small place to put our bags down, buy our own food and gaze into space. Our time here was perfect for our needs. The cottage is... More

One month of exactly what I needed and thought I was booking. The Eagles Lair is a very private Balinese style layout hideaway. Two hardwood cabins with balconies are set elevated on nicely treed property, overlooking a beautiful green valley. bathroom and fully equipped kitchen are in a separate building along the terracotta walkway. It is evident Charlie and Sarah... More

This is a great landing spot for people moving to Vilcabamba, or wanting to vacation in Vilcabamba a few weeks or longer. We stayed in the Hummingbird cabin, which was clean, affordable, fully furnished (including kitchen utensils and linens), and had a beautiful view from the porch. Sarah and Charlie were very helpful as we planned our stay and in... More

A beautiful little cabana amidst inspiring nature and belonging to the very sweet, helpful and interesting couple, that have built their place with love over the last 35 years,Sarah and Charlie. With its private kitchen and bathroom, its cable internet, its balcony and its hamac, windows that bring in light and nature, the cabana is beautiful, very confortable and cozy.... More

If you like mountain settings, wow this was perfect! The cabin I stayed in is nestled in the beautiful mountains just outside of Vilcabamba Ecuador. From my cabin looking down through the valley you could see and hear the rushing white waters of the Yambala River. The almost three months I stayed there I got to know Charlie and Sarah... More

If you want your street noise to be burros and birds, if you want your white noise for sleep to be a rushing river and if you want the stars for your night light…..this is your place! Locally it is known as Charlie’s Cabanas and Charlie and his wife Sarah couldn’t have been more accommodating hosts over the 3 months... More

Please read the whole review. We stayed for under a month at Cabanas Rio Yambala, known locally as 'Charilie's Cabanas'. Charlie and Sarah were helpful in finding a cabin when we had no other choices at the time. Basics: It was a small, rustic cabin with good views; clean inside, and there were some pots, pans, utensils, a propane stove,... More

I stayed at Cabanas Rio Yambala for a total of 8 months in cabin number #1. First from May, 2013 to November, 2013 and then again from January, 2014 to March, 2014. If you want mindless Western Culture conveniences, then don't even bother visiting Vilcabamba let alone Cabanas Rio Yambala. If you want REAL life experience, pure peace, and a... More

We had a lovely relaxing two days here, the cabins seemed a little run down but the setting is fantastic with doors that open out onto a balcony looking over the valley. Use of the kitchen was very helpfull as it is a bit out of town but worth it. We recommend stocking up on some food on your way... More
