Our very comfortable room on the first floor had wonderful views over the river. There was a small balcony which would have been great to sit out on if the weather had been warmer. But travelling in November meant that we had no trouble booking into this hotel, and we ended up staying two nights instead of one. We were... More

A large chain hotel that has the best location in town. Spacious hotel with adequate facilities but with very fine views over the river and surrounding country side. A bargain at the price with many other locations in town to eat and drink - but not with the view

We stayed at this hotel for one night based on a Rick Steves recommendation. It was a good base for exploring this beautiful port wine region. We arrived here in a rental car. There was free parking at the hotel. While it isn't a fancy hotel, our room was spacious and clean with a separate bedroom and living room. We... More

If you don't have high expectations you won't be disappointed. Like others, this hotel was booked because of close proximity to the train and boat dock. But that is the ONLY reason. The public space of the hotel is depressing, the hallways and lobby ar poorly lit, lobby is furnished with minimum and filthy furniture and area rugs. The hotel... More

We stayed at Hotel Regua Douro for three nights while visiting the area. The hotel is clean and the staff is accommodating and friendly. The hotel is close to the train station and the pier for transportation to other points of interest. And the views of the river and Douro Valley are very nice. The breakfast is very good also.... We chose this hotel because it is close to the bus and train station. This is an understatement - it took us only a minute to walk to the station! We had a room at the back with a balcony and views of the river. The room was slightly dated but was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The bed was... More

We stayed here for five nights with a party of twenty two ramblers from the UK. The hotel is comfortable and well appointed with good sized rooms. I would advise trying to book a room overlooking the river Douro if you can. Unfortunately, when we stayed here we were informed that all these rooms were already taken.. The lounge is... More

Situated right on and overlooking the Douro, we had a great view from our room of the River and port wine vineyards all around. The hotel was fine - nothing amazing but comfortable with reasonable sized rooms and ok bathrooms. There was a pool and private parking. Buffet breakfast nothing to write home about with poor layout, indifferent scrambled eggs... More

Yes it does look dated from the outside and the corridors are dark, but the rooms are spacious and modern. We found the beds comfortable, and the river views are wonderful. In general most things seemed of a good professional standard, breakfast was the best we had on our trip, staff on reception were efficient and helpful. The pool area... More

Firstly, I will start by saying that the location of this hotel is great in terms of being walking distance from the train station and the town and also having lovely views of the river and vineyards. However, we found the hotel incredibly dated and rather depressing to be in. The room size was spacious however our room had no... More
