Had traveled across Portugal and arrived at the Parador. From the coolness of the coast we were hit by the heat of Spain. We were so glad to be given a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the river and the walls of the town. Cool breeze and view of the gardens. This border town is still in many ways... More

What an amazing place to stay, I was going to say just like staying in a real castle but it is a real castle!! Stunning views from the top, food was brilliant as were the rooms & the staff were really friendly even though there was a slight language barrier!! If ever I was travelling that way again I would... The walled town is picture perfect and the parador was a former castle. It was a step into history. The food at the parador was excellent too. The restaurant had beautiful views over the country side. It had a large menu with seafood but this is a place that offers lots of meat dishes. The breakfast spread was huge and... More

My wife and I are not really "parador" persons - we consider them overpriced with awful restaurants. However, after a recent tour of Extremadura and on our way back to Santander for the ferry we decided to visit Ciudad Rodrigo. We were given a junior suite which was really very well presented and extremely comfortable although a bit difficult to... More

If you are after a unique hotel experience then this is for you. While it's hard to get past the excitment of staying in a castle, the hotel and rooms are actually excellent quality. The whole place was very clean and attention to detail is amazing with some very interesting memorabilia in the hotel and rooms. The room was clean... More

Out of beaten tourist paths and near Salamanca this 14th centrury castle residing within the 12th century wall surrouding the town ,is this very nice Parador. This was a prominent site during the peninsular war against Napoleon and the first success of Wellington in Spanish territory. Paradors have made an interesting and comfortable hotel out of this jewell. The personnel... More

The parador is in a 14th century castle though the main tower is not used for rooms. I had asked for room 105 thanks to other Trip Advisor reviewers and was very glad I did as it was one of the few rooms with a balcony big enough to sit on and with a gorgeous view towards the old Roman... More

Half way to Algarve from Bilbao. Easy to find if you put the correct address in sat nav (I didn't). Really interesting place. We had a superior room with a dome ceiling, sitting room and huge bathroom. Arrived late 10.15 pm and they happily prepared an excellent meal for us. Staff pleasant and helpful. A bit historic/ spooky but a... More

We stayed at this parador over Christmas for two nights. On Christmas eve we very much enjoyed the excellent Christmas dinner of 5 courses. Our room was well equiped and very comfortable except the bed was much too hard for our taste. Breakfast very good. Staff very courteous and profesional. We so much enjoyed the hotel that we did not... More
