Enjoyed the setting of the hotel next to the castle. However, be careful if you have a 15% of voucher, the waiter said that it applied on the special of the day meal, but when we went to settle up on the room, the receptionist did not honour the voucher. When we explained that the waiter said that the 15%... More

Having had a lunch here earlier this year we decided we were going to have an overnight. it was disappointing...check in was poor and the waitress inthe dining room needs training... not good enough for a four star hotel. bedrooms are tired.

Having passed Ciudad Rodrigo several times and having an interest in Wellingtons Peninsula campaign I just had to stay here. The hotel / castle certainly lived up to my expectations. The decor was in keeping with the buildings history and as one would expect the rooms were a little unusual in shape The room was comfortable and clean but would... More

The place is amazing and the ambiance of the lounge and the richness of a bygone era is amazing. Sipping wine or an aperative in a castle is an amazing experience so as far as this goes this parador stacks up to most of the great paradores in Spain however.... The staff remind me of the old Russian state workers... More

This parador is in a wonderful location with good facilities and parking. It is a four star parador, not a five star one. We had trouble reaching it with our car. We had a good room overlooking a garden. Dinner was in a splendid saloon. The quality of the dinner was good, but not excellent. The service was excellent.

Not easy to find in maze of narrow streets. Superb location in old castle overlooking river. Restaurant food quality no better than average and the wi-fi signal was flaky. Is living on its setting a little. Only just 4 stars.

Paradors were established by the Spanish government for the Spanish. With that in mind this Parador was all that should be expected. A fantastic historic building put to good use. Service tends to fall under the well known oxymoron, 'State Enterprise'. Customers come a close second to bureaucracy. Food was unexceptional to poor even after the shock of being served... More

We are regular visitors to paradors and this one was average in most respects. The historic building does not lend itself particularly well to its conversion into a hotel, with a curious aluminium atrium and dark public rooms. We had a lovely suite in the tower, albeit it was very dark. The food in the restaurant was acceptable without being... More

Had traveled across Portugal and arrived at the Parador. From the coolness of the coast we were hit by the heat of Spain. We were so glad to be given a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the river and the walls of the town. Cool breeze and view of the gardens. This border town is still in many ways... More

What an amazing place to stay, I was going to say just like staying in a real castle but it is a real castle!! Stunning views from the top, food was brilliant as were the rooms & the staff were really friendly even though there was a slight language barrier!! If ever I was travelling that way again I would...
