It's a long and beautiful drive on a rough road to Batopilas. What a marvel to find the colourful Riverside Lodge and the most charming of all Managers. Martín Alcaraz Gastelum was always on hand to give us a wonderful stay. Caring to see that we made nice and safe excursions. Gracias Amigo Martín

Riverside Lodge is located in a deep canyon that takes a bit of effort to get to, but it is totally worth the effort. Batopilas is 5-6 hours on a long winding road from Creel, deep into the canyon and silver mining history. The hotel is really a grand casa set back in time with all the history and nooks... More

This place is unlike no other hotel I have ever stayed in. It is a magical place, that captivates visitors. I would go back in a heartbeat. We stayed at the Riverside Lodge on our recent trip down into the Copper Canyon. The hotel is managed by the most lovely man, Martin, whose thoughtful touches and friendly presence go above... More

Brilliant colors, gurgling fountains, hidden patios, loads of antiques and charming hosts describes Riverside Lodge. From the moment the tour guide pulled up in front of this hotel, the caretaker made you feel at home. During my stay, I was the only guest at the hotel, a two hundred year-old mansion that occupies most of a city block. All the... More

We don’t think we saw Batopilas at its best. The manager of the hotel told us the town was closed for Semana Santa (!!!!) which was why there were few tourists in town (we met all 6) and there didn’t seem to be many residents either. We were the only guests at the hotel which only added to the rather... More

After the drive down from Creel, in the hustle and bustle of the quaint old town of Batopilas, finding ourselves in the riverside Hotel was like an Oasis in the desert. The rooms and courtyard are delightful and the Owner ( Martin ) and the rest of the staff can't do enough for you. you feel at home straight away.... More

The Riverside Lodge is an old, formerly private, Casa, with 14 spacious rooms, patios with hanging plants, corner staircases, tons of antiques and old photos. It's gorgeous. We spent about 1 hour just exploring it (we were the only guests during our stay but we were invited to open any doors we wanted). Spacious means an ensuite bathroom the size... More
