The Haweswater Hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking Haweswater Reservoir in one of the least touristy parts of the Lake District. Our recent stay there on a kgb deal ranks as one of our best ever short breaks. Built in the 1930's to replace the ancient inn that was submerged when the reservoir was completed, the interior of the... More

We stopped here on a KGB deal - what a wonderful surprise. We were greeted by two little red squirrels running around in the grounds; located in the middle of the countryside, the place is so peaceful and a real mecca for wildlife. The staff were friendly and really helpful, and the location is stunning. Evening meals and breakfast were... More

My husband andI have just returned from two nights at the Haweswater Hotel. This hidden gem is full of Art decor with modern touches. Our room (Lakeland) was on the first floor with a view of the lake which was breathtaking. The weather was fantastic on our visit which gave a mirror image on the lake each morning which had... More

When you think of a place in the middle of nowhere, this hotel should be the very definition. This is a very pretty hotel on the outside, a stunning stone building sitting on a terrace with stunning views of the reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Inside, the hotel has an art deco theme, with generous lounge areas and a small... More

Called in for an afternoon tea after a long walk. No cakes, only scones, no problem with that but the scones were small and uninspiring, microwaved hot, served with 1 small packet of butter and a sachet of marmalade and way overpriced. The hotel is unarguably in a beautiful location but surely it should do better for afternoon tea for... More

Upon entering the hotel we felt like we'd stepped back in time, expected Poirot to walk in any minute. The decor is my favourite period of 1930's. The views and position are amazing, breakfast super and the red squirrels are a delight. We looked around the other rooms and know which one to book for next time. The rooms are... More

The long and winding road took us to a heavenly place where the stillness was tangible. The welcome was good and the food delicious. The walks in the immediate area are quite arduous if you are not regular walkers but we felt amazed that such a gem is still to be found. Will go again.

My Wife & I stayed here for two nights in early July 2014. The hotel is very nice and the views are fantastic. The staff fall over themselves to help and the food is very good. We had a very nice time and the walk around the lake is a must start at the Burnbanks end as it is the... More

We had the Haweswater suite with views over the lake. The french doors opened onto a wonderful balcony where we were able to see the eagle in flight over Ringindale and deer with fawns on Bampton common (binoculars a must!!). Room was very relaxing and we couldn't bare to close the curtains at any point as the view was just... More
