The long and winding road took us to a heavenly place where the stillness was tangible. The welcome was good and the food delicious. The walks in the immediate area are quite arduous if you are not regular walkers but we felt amazed that such a gem is still to be found. Will go again.

My Wife & I stayed here for two nights in early July 2014. The hotel is very nice and the views are fantastic. The staff fall over themselves to help and the food is very good. We had a very nice time and the walk around the lake is a must start at the Burnbanks end as it is the... More

We had the Haweswater suite with views over the lake. The french doors opened onto a wonderful balcony where we were able to see the eagle in flight over Ringindale and deer with fawns on Bampton common (binoculars a must!!). Room was very relaxing and we couldn't bare to close the curtains at any point as the view was just... More

My wife booked this hotel, and what a Beautiful place it is, Art Deco in style, calm and piece-full setting, lovely food, and the big bonus of Red Squirrels all around , plus Shrews, and bull- finches a plenty , loved it, some lovely walks around England's highest natural lake

From the drive into the Haweswater premise, to the absolute beautiful views, my stay at the Haweswater was amazing. After a long and hectic couple of months wedding planning, this was the most ideal of locations to get away from everything and everyone. The location is absolutely idyllic, the hotel itself has a great amount of character, the staff are... More

We Came across this lovely Art Deco hotel by accident. Luckily they still had one room available for that night! ( I have heard since that groupon do deals for here so keep your eyes open!) We had The Lakeland room, complete with lovely balcony overlooking lake Haweswater. The fabulous en suite bathroom had a large whirlpool bathtub , overhead... More

Was supposed to spend 2 days at the hotel earlier this month but could only cope with one. As it's far from anywhere an narrow windy roads I didn't arrive until 8.30pm and was looking forward to an evening meal as the hotel prides itself on being a gastro pub. However they stop serving at 8pm! Absolutely ridiculous time. I... More

We had a two night stay and a room with a balcony overlooking the lake to fells in the west. It is certainly off the beaten track but a lovely drive on a glorious Friday evening with the farmers busy in the fields bailing hay in those huge machines. Its a bit awesome going round a bend to be met... More

We went on a two night Groupon offer, and having read the reviews, we were prepared for the narrow roads and found the journey well worth it. We had a room with a garden/lake view, a wonderful spa bath and couldn't fault anything. Helpful staff, good food, lovely location, red squirrels on the terrace, lovely walks, all helped by non-stop... More

Just visited this hotel. Room was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Only downside was location. Good setting overlooking reservoir but very isolated and involved a hairy drive through several miles of single track lanes to get there. If you want peace and quiet this is for you.
