Hotel Azucar was a lucky find. It was recommended for a wedding I attended in the area and was the cheaper alternative to Maison Couturier (which is not seaside, but is also an amazing option). Both are mentioned in The Design Hotels Book. Azucar is made up of palm-leaf roofed, white bungalows with direct access to the beach. I stayed... More

the hotel is away from almost every big city. You have the beach right next to the pool, good, really good food, rooms are all white, comfortable beds and inside and outside showers. Wifi is bad, but if you want to have a relaxing time, this is the hotel.

This chic spot is very beautiful and relaxing. They have taken an aesthetic approach enhancing the location. You feel instantly as if you are in a quiet zone. I was taken by the architectural aspects. The downside is that they only have pillows for sitting which can be difficult for older people needing more comfort. Chairs were at a premium.... More

This hotel sits amid many many many more hotels side by side on the so called costa Esmeralda on the Gulf of Mexico's coast. I never went inside any of the other hotels but this one for one had a nicer entrance! The rooms are confortable but minimal very basic. Instead of two lamps by the bed you get two... More

Hotel Azucar is not your hotel if you are looking for a rowdy vacation in a gated resort (which is exactly what we were not looking for). The interior of the buildings and rooms are beautifully simplistic and the entire property seems like it is straight out of a dream. I speak little to no spanish, and even though there... More

AMAZING food, we almost ate there for every meal, ask them what the catch of the day is (sometimes you'll get to eat something that was swimming in the ocean that day!). You have to try the french toast! Staff was great, they tried their hardest to understand us and help us with our communication. Facilities are beautiful and simplistic,... More

Located between Veracruz city andPoza rica this boutique hotel has 21 bungalows where you can relax, the rooms are minimalist, don't expect luxuries but a relaxing place instead, there is a TV that I never used, outside the room there's a hammock, but very room is different. Restaurant is slow food, not good if you are in a hurry, but... More

We stayed at Azucar with a "Lucky Hour" discount (http://www.grupohabita.mx/). So for the amount we paid ($1500MXN/night-- about $120 USD at the time), we thought the value was great. The staff is super nice and accommodating, the food is incredible (make sure to get the esponjadas for breakfast-- which are basically delicious fried little clouds with a side of beans--... More

Azucar is a place to both relax at the hotel (no children are allowed, my kids are 20 and 18). The place is beautiful, nestled amongst luxurious vegetation, the rooms are perfect, specially 14 with a king size bed and 15 with two queens and the best view in the hotel. Service was as good as it gets and the... More

What I expect in a boutique hotel, being a worldwide traveler : cool, technology, atmosphere, bar, cocktail, great amenity. technology, music, pool, etc....and I am happy to pay the right price for this What I got : * Very dark rooms (due to the design concept) * Cheap features in the room (4 ugly plastic hangers, dirty plastic shower curtain,...
