After crossing the Simpson our group of 4 had two days in Birdsville, and had dinner in the Birdsville hotel on one of the nights. We were so impressed with the meal which was presented beautifully, and with lovely vegetables and side salads - all done with creativity and full of flavour - no hint of "we're remote so can't... We rocked up to Birdsville on Friday evening as did 4000 other Big Red Bash Concert goers. Dinner service was already on hold so lucky we had meals we could heat up back at our camp site. The bar was full on fun and energy, drink prices varied each round. They were so super busy and can't blame the staff... More

After crossing the Simpson Desert it's very good to have a real bed and enjoy a warm shower. We stayed here for a night and found the room basic but clean and tidy. You have everything you need (except wifi but you can get mobile coverage). Meals are also quite basic (we were there on Pizza or Ribs night) but... More

Iconic outback hotel. Bar staff uninterested not friendly poor atmosphere. Very disappointing for such a venue. Meals were good and drinks cold and adequate. Rooms were adequate clean and well presented

Stayed overnight as part of a DownUnder coach trip and what a surprise. After a long and dusty road, the bar was a welcome sight as we downed our drinks and marvelled at all the hats and other artefacts that adorn the walls and ceiling. The locals are friendly and welcoming as are all the hotel staff, here and in... More

They are now past masters at catering for the traveller in from the desert, bus tours and nomads. This is a great hotel with good accommodation, great food and great bar retaining its original charm. Worth the visit even if not using the accommodation.

4 of us flew in about 2 weeks before the iconic Birdsville Races, and the place was already getting busy. A colourful and easy flight from Maree, we observed amazing scenery of the dry and isolated outback during a 3 and1/4 hour flight. The Birdsville Hotel/motel is conveniently directly across the road from the very good airstrip and also the... More

This place is a hoot. 120 miles to the next beer. The Pub us just plain fun. We flew to Birdsville in a Cessna 172. Three hours across the desert can may you mighty dry. The dinner was very good, much better than we would have expected. The hotel was a bit basic there are 27 rooms. I would not... More

After long hours driving over some pretty bumpy dusty roads between Cameron Corner and Birdsville, we were delighted to find this oasis of luxury. Aircon, hot showers, soft beds, a kitchen with microwave and fridge, a living area with sofa, TV, dining table, etc. All clean, modern and well-maintained. First visited Birdsville about 30 years ago after crossing the Simpson,... More
