El Secreto is a marvelous place! It is right off the main square. It is a small boutique hotel in a small town, so you have everything close. Rooms are spacious and surrounded by greenery. Breakfast is plentiful, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit with yogurth and granola ans scrambled eggs with plenty of garnish. The best?? The bed! Beds... More

Magic Town Mineral de Pozos, Guanajuato This magical town, known as ghost town was a mining town which was abandoned twice since its foundation. Mineral de Pozos is a small town that is beginning to revive, old houses are being restored as well as alleys and squares although there is little to do, you can find sacred art and architecture... Neat little 3 room hotel, right in the central plaza. Rooms are spacious and comfortable although in the one we stayed, needs fixing in doors and windows to block morning light and to cancel entrance of unpleasant and bad looking insects. Very friendly and helping staff. Nice Breakfast.

I spent two week-nights at El Secreto as a solo traveler. I needed a break from the hustle and bustle of San Miguel. It was exactly what I was looking for: a beautiful garden where I could sit in the sunshine and read; a fantastic breakfast; a comfortable room with a fireplace for the cool mornings. I ate some good... More

Excellent option for couples. As we were traveling with two kids, Staff kindly accommodates the room by adding one extra bed, which at the end was not necessary as the master bed was big enough to fit all of us. Breakfast was awesome, one of the best we have enjoyed. Hotel does not offer parking, but there is a lot... More

We booked a week at El Secreto while on a real estate hunting trip. Staying at El Secreto was the best decision we made. Nick and Manray run a great, great inn. They make you feel at home and will bend over backward to accommodate you. The gardens are as beautiful as any inn we've stayed in Europe or the... More

I was fortunate enough to be invited along by freinds to a gathering in Pozos and was agreable to spending the night rather than drive back to San Miguel; My luck continued as we ended up staying at this charming and intimate jewel of a hotel. I was just astounded by how delicious the bed felt and I slept thoroughly.... More

I have stayed here many times but never for a full week. I didn't want to leave. (And am buying a house in Pozos so I won't be leaving.) In addition to being the host with the mostest, niCk was the patient guide/realtor who sold me on Pozos and my house-to-be. His staff is wonderful: cheerful, respectful, and chatty. And... More

El Secreto is a jewel. I like sophisticated, authentic and unique small hotels and this fits the bill. The staff and owners are so welcoming and accommodating. Stylishly decorated, immaculately clean rooms with comfy beds, linens and bathrooms have the feel of being a guest in a beautiful Mexican home. Breakfast on the patio is outstanding - totally delicious and... More

Nick and his staff at El Secreto have created a fantastic refuge from the crowds of Guanajuato and San Migeul de Allende. Excellent breakfast served just outside your bedroom door in a beautiful garden. Comfortable room with all the necessary amenities. I was visited daily by "Chispa", one of the pet dogs on the property and enjoyed his companionship. Nearby... More
