I am not so good at writing, but this wonderful place is a favorite of ours. First visit was when we stayed a week in Nuevo Arenal several years ago. A couple of years later we stayed several nights there and just loved it. This year we traveled with friends to Costa Rica and we stayed a couple of nights... More

The Lucky Bug is a beautiful little place to have lunch, it also has cute rooms to stay, and some interesting artwork available to purchase. Love this place, so quaint and pretty. The coffee is fantastic as well! Recommended stop on your touring of Aranal?

We found this place on the drive from Arenal to Monteverde. We visited as a place to stretch our legs and do a little bit of shopping. The store has all kinds of artisan crafts and we even ship larger items for you. As if the shopping experience was not enough, the owners and staff were extremely friendly and helpful... More

Hola, Thanks so much for your nice review. On your next trip you should stay with us at the Lucky Bug B&B. The breakfasts are made each morning in the restaurant, Caballo Negro, where you ate schnitzel. I was born in Germany, so I do like bringing some of Germany to Costa Rica in my schnitzels, and sauerkraut and spaetzle.... More

Hola, Thanks for the nice review. We are glad we could help make you feel at home. We like to make people feel part of the family when they are here. Many just like either eating at our restaurant, Caballo Negro, or having a drink of coffee, or a beer and just look at the many birds and the grounds... More

Hola, Thanks for the nice review. We are glad you enjoyed our restaurant, although the restaurant is technically Caballo Negro. Monika makes the marinara sauce for the one pasta from scratch, and the other pasta we offer is her Macadamia Nut Pesto, which is made from locally grown (Nuevo Arenal) macadamia nuts. Much different flavor for the pesto than pine... More

We had a wonderful experience at the Lucky Bug B&B and I would highly recommend if staying in the Nuevo Arenal area. Monika is a fantastic chef and she and Rob are very welcoming hosts. Monika's gallery is one of the best in the country, offering high quality art & craft as well as an assortment of handmade soaps, coffee... More

We enjoyed having you here also. Glad you enjoyed your stay, and also Rob's gig downtown. We hope you come back and see us sometime. And....Rob is loving playing music again. He has done this since he retired after playing as a young man and then working for a number of years. Pura Vida, Monika More

My niece and I drove to Aernal Volcano and along the way we spotted this gallery and decided to stop. While enjoying the gallery, we were so welcome and enjoying the relaxing setting we decided to stay for breakfast. While waiting waiting for our food, we became friendly with a local and his 3 dogs and got up close and... More

Hola, Thanks for your nice review. Glad you met our friend with his dogs. He is an excellent photographer and has a very good tour business here. What can we say, the Lucky Bug is an absolutely charming B&b. The grounds are meticulously kept, the suite was very spacious and well appointed. The hosts were an absolute delight, making us feel welcome and at home. We were planning for a 3 night stay but extended an extra just to spend more time around the delightful hosts. This... More

What a nice review!!! We enjoyed meeting you guys and loved hanging out and talking with you. You are a fun couple. You came as strangers, but left as friends. And volunteering to help with the St. Patrick's Day dinner was amazing. We hope the rest of your trip is not only enjoyable, but productive also. Pura Vida, Monika and... More

Most people know the Lucky Bug as a great little B&B, but little has been written about the restaurant and gift shop. Monika doesn't just fix breakfast for the renters, but has a wonderful breakfast open to the public...lunch too. Best Ruben in Costa Rica! Also, last night, opened for dinner and prepared one of the best corned beef and... More

Thanks for your review. Technically, the restaurant name is Caballo Negro, but most people do refer to here as the Lucky Bug. So glad you enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day dinner. We do enjoy these dinners, because they end up being more of a party than a dinner. We hope you keep coming back to see us. Pura Vida, Monika More

What a wonderful spot. Peace and quiet, great birding, excellent quality food, and shopping to boot. What more can one ask for. Two wonderful hosts, Monika and Rob who are so helpful and knowledgable and who steered us in the right direction and answered all of our questions (including silly ones). Hopefully we will get the chance to return soon.

Thanks so much for your nice review. So glad you had a good time with us. The birds have been very active in the past few weeks. Possibly the next time you visit Costa Rica you can come stay with us again. And no questions are silly questions. We are always glad to help. Pura Vida More
