I came here with group of ramblers. We "booked" our dinner only on the morning of our walk in the area. The restaurant managed to serve our last minute party of 20 (and other guests) with only one waitress. The food was basic fare done well - supplemented by reasonably priced wine and an array of real ales (Shropshire Brewery).... More

Nowhere else offered food and it had been a long drive so from the outside, looked like a traditional building with character and promoted food options, so it looked as if it'd suit. How wrong! The barman walked in the oppsote direction when we walked in. The waitress took customers to the dining room then went to her pals and... More

Stayed here between 24-26 July 2014 to attend a wedding in Chirk Castle on 25 July.2014 We were allocated Room 18 which together with Room 17 is only accessible through the back of the hotel down a dingy corridor past the kitchen, and exiting the hotel via the beer garden to re-enter the hotel via a Fire exit door and... We arrived and they had no record of our booking and of the two rooms booked one was incorrect i.e. Double not twin. The other double was so small that you could touch both walls. One room had broken windows and a dirty sock under the bed. Breakfast was horrific - frozen veggie sausage, mouldy bread, sour milk and overly... More

A friendly hotel with nice acceptable rooms given the price point. Bar good and breakfast fine. We had a large dinner for 10 people and we were advised that we needed to place or orders before 7pm which we duly did and then moved into the excellent dining room. Staff were flexible to re arrange the tables for us. What... More

I have previously written two reviews of this establishment, having enjoyed it immensely, being very positive about the place. However, knowing you always get a good quality meal at The Hand Hotel, we called early on a Saturday afternoon. Horror upon horrors, the menu had changed totally and the prices had rocketed. Nothing at all on the menu inspired us... More

We went to Chirk to see the magnificient castle but wanted to have a traditional sunday lunch , it was beautiful weather so we hoped to get a place we could eat outside. All the other pubs around were packed , so we took a chance and stopped at the Hand Hotel. We spotted they had a large garden alongside... More

We were staying in the are and decided to visit the Hand Hotel in Chirk on Tuesday 27th May as it was our wedding anniversary but regret it. The food was average pub food, the portions were small, the service was painfully slow and the prices expensive. All in all we wished that we had not made the effort and... More

The hand hotel is situated in the very quite village of Chirk, the room we stayed was ok but very hot in the night which we found made it hard to sleep. but otherwise it was a nice stay, with a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning, the staff where very friendly and helpful
