First of all, we debated about going to Glenorchy at all but are so glad we did. The drive along Lake Wakatipu is beautiful, and Glenorchy is a peaceful alternative to busy Queenstown. The motel itself did look rundown from the outside and made us wonder whether or not we had made a wise choice, but the rooms were clean... More

First impressions from the outside were that the Motel was a little bit tired but our room was clean, comfortable, well equipped and well presented and we're very glad we chose to stay there. There were even proper Lazeeboy reclining chairs in our room. There are two or three places within a few minutes walk for something to eat and... More

We have recently spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lady owner was very friendly to us and helpful when we needed help. Our room was basic but extremely clean. and was tidied and the bins emptied every day. The motel is in an excellent position to do walks both short and extended and there are 2... More

Thank you for your review, and I certainly understand your desire to celebrate the wedding event. However we do have a policy at our motel to keep noise down for the sake of other guests. The other unit was a family with young children and you were asked (nicely) to take your party inside after 12 o'clock on the second... More

The motel looks neglected, but the rooms are fairly clean. It is odd that the manager/owner hides up in her second story home and makes no effort to interact with the guests. The sauna is filled with blankets and laundry so the one amenity that they have is unusable. We stayed for four nights and were given one 30 minute... More

We arrived to be greeted by, a phoned 'your key is in the door and I will catch up with you later.' 90 minutes passed. Nothing. First time in NZ not offered milk and trying to get the advertised free internet was like pulling teeth and required unnecessary insistance on my part. This is a shame as Glenorchy is a... More

Our first impression of the Mt Earnslaw Motel was that the exterior needed a good clean up. Looked very tired. The motel is on the market so perhaps the owners interest has waned somewhat. However to our relief the room itself was was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It had a well equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, large bed, couch and... More

Spent 2 nights in October 2013. Glenorchy is surrounded by spectacular scenery at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu. Lots of good walking tracks. We spent a day walking the first part of the Routeburn track, which was good. Glenorchy Cafe highly recommended for breakfast and lunch. Motel room was clean, simple but adequate, with well equipped kitchen for self... More

It was as the other reviews said it would be. Good. As a motel it is very simple, basic kitchen and bathroom, everything was clean and worked. I recommended it if you a planning a couple of days in glenorchy. Simple but effective.

We stayed 3 nights at the Mt Earnslaw motel in November 2013 as an extension to our Queenstown holiday. Glenorchy is a small quiet town with some magnificent views and provides a great base for some wonderful walking tracks, including the Routeburn track. My partner and I did the first day of the Routeburn as a day trip and thoroughly... More
