For the price (Japanese standards), you get a decent offering from the Grand Papa. The rooms are clean, small and cosy - heater inside. The walls between bedrooms are thin so you best hope for either quiet neighbors or bring earlpugs to sleep with. Anything other than tip-toeing around late at night can be heard by adjoining rooms. The bathroom... More

Fantastic pension, truly saved me from the awful hirafu backpackers. I came along desperate to stay and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, and half the price too! Very cosy, staff are impeccable, breakfast great! The lounge has a lovely fireplace to relax in front of, freebies abound, tea and cakes, toiletries, fresh towels piled high. Highly recommended...pls... More

I really want to thank Mr. Kohei Nikahara and Ms. Kyoko for making our long weekend stay in Niseko a truly wonderful visit. Kohei-san replied to all my emails promptly so matter how detailed my questions were. He helped me understand all the logistics, so travel to and from the pension went smoothly. Since I was leading our "gang," I... More

The good bits: Staff are helpful and friendly Located opposite Yukoro onsen We liked the breakfast, very tasty and always well presented. Reasonable walking distance from places to eat The bad bits I love using the public baths in all the pensions I have stayed at, but the one at Grandpapa was very disappointing. It was much much smaller than... More

We had a great time at Grandpapa's in Feb 2014. We had a quad loft room, which was big enough for the four of us (four blokes on a ski trip). The breakfasts are good, but be on time (8am means 8am, if you get there at 0810, your meal will be on the table getting cold). The staff are... More

We had a really great experience here! One of the biggest advantages is that the price in comparison to many other pensions in the Niseko area is really reasonable! It's very close to the main town area of Hirafu (about five minutes walk, if that!) and there is a regular shuttle 1 minute up the road that goes to all... More

Grandpapa is very nice, welcome staff, beautiful pension, lovely breakfast(main course changed every day). We stayed in the Japanese tatami room, the beddings are so comfortable, room size is enough, shared toilet on each floor(never been waiting). Common Japanese bathroom (used for 1 night only) as you would go to the Onsen (few steps from Grandpap) every night which cost... More

We had a great stay here as a big group. The bathrooms were all shared showers. The fondue was expensive for what we got... Average vegetables and other things dipped in cheese... The staff were all very very nice. I liked that we had use of the downstairs lounge.. Shame they didn't get the bar down there going... But byo... More
