Stayed at the castle for 2 nights. The views from the room are incredible. Lovely breakfast served each morning. La Barben is a tiny town with only a zoo for an attraction. Luckily the town is only about a 10 minute drive to a wonderful town called Salon de Provence with plenty of shopping & restaurants to explore. Please be... More

This stay fulfilled my dream of staying in a castle! Lovely and hospitable owners. One piece of advice: it is a walk up a hill and stairs once inside so pack just an overnight bag to carry instead of a large suitcase.

If you want a VERY UNIQUE experience, this is it. Spend a night - or more - in a castle. Chateau de La Barben is an unbelievable experience. You sleep in the midst of history. It was kind of fun having the castle to ourselves and roaming around. You get the code to the front door and can come and... More

We have visited this magnificent castle twice and Bertrand and his family made us feel most welcome. This charming castle with beautifully decorated rooms and stunning views is a great place for a romantic retreat.

We stayed in the Elisa room (the one in the picture) and being the spoilt girl I am, I honestly felt like a little princess! This is a castle that has been through a few periods therefore expect a mix of decoration, nevertheless I think it´s fantastically adorned! We missed the last guided tour (in French) but they gave us... More

Magnificent stately home, beautifully kept, with outstanding welcome. The owners make you feel as if you visited relatives in the 18th century - with all the modern comfort. The views from the bedrooms are stunning.

A stunning, off the grid stay in an authentic fairy-tale 11th century castle. As a guest you will live in a beautifully appointed castle stepping into your own Beauty-and-the-Beast chateau opened as a museum by day but at night all your own with romance, mystery and the historic legends of past intrigues and object d'art. Each unique room is large-sized,... More

Absolutely amazing hosts. We were on our honeymoon and the owners looked after us like extended members of their family. It was halloween night so we couldn't eat with the owners, so they recommended the restaurant that was literally 50 metres down the road. The food was incredible, and the following morning we were treated to a full French breakfast... More

My husband and I stayed in Room Elisa for two nights when we traveled to the south of France in the summer. We had a fantastic time. The castle, which is said to date back to 1064, felt wonderfully authentic and it was a great experience to have breakfast in the medieval kitchen. Our room was beautifully appointed. There was... My wife and I traveled to southern France this past August (2012). This was a wonderful treat to stay at this castle. Our room was wonderful and the entire stay in the historic castle was like going back in time. We elected to have dinner at the castle which is a separate charge, but it was well worth every penny.... More
