I can't remember how many times we have stayed at Fern Cottage. We no longer go there to visit the local attractions as we have covered them many times over the past 6 or 7 years. We go there because for us there is nowhere like the hospitality and the quality of the welcome that you receive at Fern Cottage.... More

We two Aussies discovered Fern Cottage in 2013 and arranged our 2014 itinerary so that we could repeat the experience. As regular visitors to the UK for 35 years, we have seen most of what is offered as accommodation and have found none better than Fern Cottage. Very easy to find in the open countryside, a few minutes out of... More

After travelling 12000miles ,picking up a rental car at Heathrow and driving for 1.5hrs, it was fantastic to find the Fern Cottage B&B. We stayed here for three nights and what a great place to recover from Jet lag. Pete and Sue were warm and friendly and once we got settled in they offered us some home made scones, jam,... More

My wife & I stayed at Fern Cottage for 3 nights in June 2014. The welcome and hospitality were first class. We used Fern Cottage as a base to tour some of the surrounding areas during a short break. Sue & Pete were extremely welcoming and were very happy to spend time discussing potential places to visit along with the... More

We have just had a 3 night break at Fern Cottage and everything about this B&B is just perfect. It is ideally situated between Bath and Bristol and Sue and Pete are the most wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble, and Sue's baked eggs are deliciously divine, I had them for two of my three breakfasts! We stayed in... More

My wife and I stayed at Fern Cottage in April and still talk about what an ideal B&B it is. Charming, peaceful, comfortable, and amazing breakfasts. Sue and Pete were wonderful hosts and helped us with our restaurant selections for dinner and our daily touring options. It is great to be close to Bath, but at the end of the... More

We stayed here this week as part of a 'mini-moon'. The B&B is absolutely perfect. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. Sue & Pete were extremely hospitable and the breakfasts were superb!

Mark and I have just returned from an fabulous weekend stay at fern cottage. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our room with its own garden area. Our reason for staying was to celebrate 4 years of being together. Sue organised our taxi for saturday night and because there was no available taxi on friday evening Pete... More

Only just go around to writing this review, due to life being manic since our return. Stayed with Sue and Pete over the weekend over the Badminton Horse Trials in early May. Fern Cottage is a Badminton tradition for us now and would never consider staying anywhere else, in fact we did used to stay elsewhere but would never look... More

National Award Winning Fern Cottage Bed and Breakfast is set in 2 acres of delightful gardens within a designated conservation area - 15 minutes from the City of Bath and Maritime City of Bristol. We have been graded by EnjoyEngland and received a 4 STAR top SILVER Award for our exceptional service, hospitality and food. We have just received the Highly Commended Award for Bed and Breakfast of the Year from VisitEngland after attending the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2013 in Manchester on 20th May. We are very proud to be in the top 5 bed and breakfast businesses in England. We have now received 20 Awards for customer service, hospitality and our home made, home grown and local food. We have cooked for Gary Rhodes and Michael Caines in the UKTV Local Food Hero and received Finalist for the whole of the South West. We are also the only Bed and Breakfast in this area to have received a GOLD Award for Green Tourism for the 7th year running. Three rooms are in our beautifully converted stable block with panoramic views overlooking fields and the fourth room is situated at the rear of the cottage overlooking the rear garden. All rooms have their own entrances, so guests can come and go as they please. We have put together a unique breakfast menu using only local, home made and home grown produce. Baked eggs, devilled kidneys on hot buttered toast, local naturally smoked haddock with home made potato cakes, fresh herb omelette using our own delicious eggs from our hens and of course our own South West full English breakfast, using locally produced maple cured bacon specially prepared for us, old English sausages, potato cakes with home grown chives, a taster portion of devilled kidneys, grilled local tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms. ... more   less
