Yet again we have been to The George and the service has been dreadful. We waited nearly 1 hour for our main meal and were ignored for most of the evening regarding service, we have been going to the George for 6 years as it our local but we really don't know why as this has been like this since... My partner, Mother, my partner's parents and myself ate in The George Brasserie in April 2012. It was the first time that my partner's parents had been here and I was worried about what they would make of the menu. We all ordered and were sat promptly at our table. The starters arrived and my partner's Mother didn't realise that... More

We had travelled over from Newmarket to enable my wife to visit the Anne Furbanks fashion shop which is part of this family establishment. Time was spent before lunch, browsing, buying clothes, reading newspapers and enjoying the ambiance of this fine establishment that we had visited many times before. Saturday morning was rounded off by lunch in the Brasserie. The... More

For a number of years now, I have been visiting this lovely hotel, and I have proclaimed it to be my favourite which, trust me, is quite some pedestal on which to be placed. Prior to each of my visits, I tell my wife that one day I'll take her, so we could enjoy the experience together. As I travel... More

I don’t give scores of 5 easily, but the excellent customer service at this lovely hotel certainly deserves the rating. The outside of the hotel is very old and traditional, so it is a surprize the see the light, airy and contemporary interior. On entering the hotel we were greeted by a young lady, Samantha, who made us feel tremendously... More

Stayed here for the second time in a year, dinner & breakfast were good, not outstanding, but 8/10. I stayed in the Stephenson room (all rooms named after a famous George) Room was OK but the bathroom was poor, despite being on an outside wall, there was no opening window, access to the shower was from the back/sloping end of... A fantastic meal, a fantastic setting, and fantastic service. The food was beautiful, the flavours were sumptious and fresh. The menu was varied with a selection to suite all. The service was prompt and efficient and nothing was to much trouble. As soon as finishing the meal and feeling truly full and satisfied my husband and I were trying to... More

My husband and I had dinner here on the Friday night before New Years Eve so the restaurant was very busy, but we still had a relaxing evening. My only dissatisfactions were that staff had to struggle past my chair to reach the next table, and I didn't need someone to spread my napkin on my knee. Everyone seemed to... More

My husband and I stayed here for a night for my birthday and it was beautiful. The staff were fantastically attentive and I loved the themed bedrooms according to diffferent 'George's'. The rooms were modern and clean, but still in keeping with the character of this old property. Dinner here was also delicious and the bar was great for pre... More
