Looking for a fine dining to celebrate my wife 56 birthday and finally decided to go to this Hotel George in Buckden. I was a bit surprised to many diners coming inside and we are so lucky to have my reservation made in the morning otherwise a big disappointment with the celebrant ciz the house is full. Food was so... More

It took 3 staff to not to be able to get the shower to function and offered no alternative. Having a meeting early the next morning, made a request for a bacon sandwich for 7.30am as breakfast service didn't start until after 8am. Chef starts at 7am, how difficult is it to knock up a butty? Poor, poor customer service.

We have been to The George to eat quite a few times now and the food has always remained at a very good standard, the surroundings are always very welcoming and easy on the eye but the service has always been a little less tentative and questionable than you would expect from a good quality establishment. We went on this... More

First time to this hotel and wow what a gem of a place. The food, service and place was fantastic. Very relaxed but still felt special, a very big thanks to all the staff. The food we had was top notch and the price was very responsible. If in the area again will definitely come again.

I came with two girlfriends for dinner and we had three courses, champagne and excellent service, the food was outstanding, everything was just as good as it can get! The setting is great too. I would describe the lounge and bar areas as quiet country hotel, you can have drinks by the fire, decor is smart.

We met our friends for lunch at the George, choosing the brasserie and we were not disappointed. The menu although small was very good, the food came in good time and all together. The service was very good and the staff attentive. Three of us chose the beefburger, which was excellent, very tasty and very filling. The other choice was... More

We did not stay here, but this review is for the restaurant. We were taken to here for a meal with family, people who eat here on a regular basis. From the moment you arrive, the watch word is service and quality. We were sat in the relaxing lounge area with drinks and menu's. Our order was taken, and, after... More

Six of us stayed at the George whilst visiting friends in St.Neots near Cambridge. We had three rooms and although we all paid the same price the rooms were of varying size. All were of an acceptable standard and clean. Tea making facilities were not available in the rooms but free tea and coffee is served in the rooms on... More

Good quality food and menu selection good. Service let it down, plenty of staff that seem uncoordinated/ managed. Had to interrupt a 3 way staff conversation to place order. Asked for a bill twice, after 15 mins gave up and went to bar, no surprise bill not ready. Will go back due to location and food. Better leadership / management... More

We celebrated my father-in-laws 90th birthday with a family meal and stayed over night. The hotel could not have been more helpful. My daughter has a diary allergy and nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the chef. The meal was fantastic and when certain items needed to be changed because of the dairy allergy, it was no... More

Thank you for your review. I have passed your comments on to the kitchen and front of house team. Both of which were very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your meal and the service. Please do accept my apologies in relation to the issues with the fire alarm. The system developed a fault during the night, which took... More
