Fully refurbished rooms including Queen size bed, en-suite bathroom/shower And tea and coffee making facilities ticked all the boxes for us. Continental breakfast was plentiful and staff could not do enough to make sure we were happy. Our reason for staying in the Black Bull was to visit relatives in Godmanchester so our one night stay in this pub was... More

I stayed here for business as the best local option that wasn't a chain hotel. The price is competitive and the room was simple and a little dated but very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. What really set this pub apart was the evening meal. In some ways I should probably review the meal only as that... More

Had Sunday lunch with friends.Lovely meal and the staff were very accomading.Asked for a gluten free role that came within minutes. My friend asked for fat free beef and that was what she got. Instead of cream on her sweet she asked for ice cream and this is what she got. All in all very satisfied and we would visit again.

The room was adequate but double glazing would have been a huge improvement as the busy road noise was very loud. We booked a full breakfast with Alpha Rooms only to find out on our arrival that full breakfast has never been available at this venue, on saying that the so called 'continental breakfast' consisted of cereal (Corn flakes or... After a long drive we approached the Black Bull with some trepidation. The photographs made it look like a quiet rural setting. It isn't. We parked and walked passed the dustbins towards the entrance. On the door was a sticker with a maximum of 5 for food hygiene. As all the food we ate was clearly from an indifferent supermarket... Been staying here 1 or two nights a week over the 3 months while working in the area and the rooms are clean and tidy and can not find a fault with them at all.But the best thing about the black bull is the food they have a great standard menu with plenty of choice. But the A la carte... More

I stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting friends, Great value for money good location. Check in was friendly and swift and I was happy with the homely feel. Bedrooms and modern, new en suite bathrooms, though the latter are rather small and would be a problem for the larger client. The accommodation was clean and rooms had plenty of... More

Unfortunately I visited the black bull for Sunday lunch and it was really poor. There is probably a better atmosphere in an old peoples home. The food was not good, I ordered the roast beef and it was pretty inedible, 60% of it was pure fat and bloody. It's really not acceptable today that this sort of quality is allowed... More

Today we were told that this food was worth £10 a head or £140 in total, it is an utter disgrace. when we asked if more food would be served we were told yes, yet the only food to be produced after that was a dessert we had paid extra for! When the manager eventually came to speak to us,... More
