I went here this evening with my parents having heard it had re-opened (it used to be awful). However you wouldn't recognise the place now, a true gastro-pub, great decor, nice food, we had a fantastic evening. Gorgeous open fire (although the bar area was a little chilly), great menu, wine and beer choices without ripping you off. It was... More

went in for a family meal in October and was impressed with the interior and design, the bar is small but well layer out and has a good selection of beers etc.... The eating area is very pleasant and has a lovely open fire place and then behind is more space for dinning. The food was good, some dishes better... More

First - and this is very important - disregard any negative reviews of the Black Bull prior to October 2014. The pub has been bought by a small independent pub company and renovated into a very comfortable and friendly pub/restaurant/hotel much as it was when I first came to Godmanchester in 2005. Went there for dinner with my partner for... More

From Godmanchester originally but moved out of the town some years ago. Decided to try out The Black Bull. Have to say its good to have the pub back as a major eatery in the town. Superb food and friendly staff. Decor has been done in keeping with the character of both the town and age of the pub.

The. Black Bull has had a complete face lift and looks bright and fresh , they have kept the old fire place and it smoulders away completing the wonderful atmosphere of it surroundings Godmanchester is a lovely village with the river running through and Huntingdon. Market town a stones throw away #mustcheckout!

Despite earlier Tripadvisor reviews I stayed in the Black Bull for a couple of nights as it was convenient to do so -and I have no major complaints. It is a typical old English coaching inn, and being several hundred years old, yes could do with a lick of paint in places. I was warmly welcomed from the start, and... More

Stopped off for lunch en route from Peterborough. It's true that the building is battered but the lunch was home-made, piping hot and served with a smile. We both agreed that it was better at £10 for two meals than the £40 we had spent in one of the chains the previous week. Ideal if you are hiking and not... More

Went in for a pint and a game of pool - felt like we were interrupting the handful of patrons when we walked due to the unhappy stares. This pub is in quite a state since I last saw it. I can't say that I am sad to see the dinning room is gone but the current state of the... More

We didn't stay in the b&b but popped in as passing and received a wonderful warm welcome. The meal was home cooked and delicious, absolutely the best curry I have ever tasted. We live too far to return but would recommend the food. Thank you to the lovely bar staff for making our visit special. The pub building needs some... More
