We had nine days and were made to feel very welcome. Jak and Barbra make you feel as if you are long lost friends and show great interest in you. They also have wonderful stories to tell of their own adventures. Great pride is taken in maintaining this historical house and we were grateful for the upgrade to the self... More

Stayed for a long weekend and had a fantastic time. Rooms are full of history and character; the owners, Jack and Barbara are so welcoming and Jack's cooked breakfast is to die for. On-site parking and easy drive into Edinburgh and lots of nice places to see on the way.

We stayed only one night at Ivory House, but would have enjoyed more. We were greeted at the door by our first names and immediately felt at home. Barbara made us tea in the common room while we settled in. The home is historic and the owners are very careful to maintain the charm and character. Our room "Louisa" was... More

The owners are welcoming and helpful and our stay was pleasant. Breakfast was typical B and B. Use of the common room was a bonus as the weather wasn't good and it was nice to have somewhere else to sit and have tea. Judging by some of the other comments, I'm guessing the other rooms were larger than the one... More

This place is a gem! We were moved here from another hotel nearby after some issues at the last minute and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Jack was a wonderful host and cooked a fantastic hearty breakfast in the morning. The rooms were decorated beautifully, the bed extremely comfy (we were in the tartan room) and the... More

We were moved to Ivory House at the very last minute, as the hotel we originally booked nearby had some plumbing issues. We certainly weren't any worse off for it. The house is a beautiful property with lovely gardens. The welcome we received was great and felt very warm, this continued throughout our stay. The landlord Jack has some great... More

We booked three rooms at the Ivory House yesterday for an overnight as we were attending a family birthday event in Gorebridge. Rooms immaculate, breakfast delightful and family owners couldn't have been any more helpful. Would highly recommend this 4 star guest house!!! Thanks so much to the owners.

Was made very welcome on arrival and given a little history and geography lesson about the area and hotel by big jack the landlord.me and my partner thought was really pleasant and interesting and added to the experience in a positive way. The breakfast was top notch and the four poster was amazing too. Had a great nights kip.

This is the third time my family has stayed with Jack and Barbara at Ivory House, and it will definitely not be the last. From their great hospitality to Jacks stories and lovely breakfast nothing is missing. We took a trip to Edinburgh by bus which was a little long (one hour), but that's nothing to stop me from staying... More
