Bon Jour Dorthy and Simon, Sorry for the late review. Just found this posting. The vist was our most favorite in two months stay in France. They make you feel as if Chateau de l'Isle-Marie is home. Make sure you eat at the little resturant that Dorthy and Simon recommend near Utah beach. When you arrive just say please feed... more

After a busy jaunt through Paris, the Chateau de l'Isle Marie was a step back in pace, and time. From the immaculate and spacious rooms to the gardens, old buildings and natural landscape, this chateau is a MUST for anyone seeking a REAL chateau experience. This is NOT a typical spot - it's authentic; you can roam the grounds with... more

I can't say enough about Chateau de L'isle-Marie. To begin with, the chateau itself is spectacular, and one of the only hotels I have been to where the pictures truly do not do it justice. The common areas, dining room, living room, foyer, are straight out of a Hollywood movie set in the 1800s, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are... more

Dorthea and Simon are exceptional hosts. You would have to look long and far to find two people like them who want your experience with them to be the best. The guests who use this historic chateau are great breakfast companions, and come from all walks of life. The grounds and location make it an ideal place to have the "Normandy"... more

Staying at the Isle De Marie Chateau is truly a unique experience due to it's beautiful location, it's long and colorful history and the outstanding service provided by the management and staff. The fact that the Chateau has been in the same family since the 11th century and that they were willing to describe the history of the family and... more

You will get nothing but the warmest of greetings and great support from these two beautiful folks. I had the great opportunity to stay at their... more

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked at Chateau de L’Isle-Marie for a 3-day stay. We were delighted with our selection. We were warmly welcomed to the Chateau by the owner, Simon Rock de Besomes. The main building at the Chateau has portions dating to the 1300’s, and is on the site of a Viking fort. The property has... more

Greetings from a USA couple who decided to stay at Château de l'Isle-Marie . No question, this chateau earns a FIVE STAR rating! From the moment we made contact with "Simon" and "Dorothea", they treated us like royalty (excuse the pun). Their follow-up, professionalism, hospitality & assistance was invaluable. We honestly felt like we were almost family immediately and truly... more

From the moment we arrived, Simon and Dorothea made us feel welcome and comfortable. My husband and I have traveled a great deal and have stayed in many beautiful places, and both of us feel that Chateau d'Isle Marie is one of the loveliest. It is a wonderful combination of elegant furnishings and formal portraits of the ancestral family, a... more
