A lovely B&B in a delightful old cottage. Room retained it's cottage character but yet modern, immaculate and bright extremely comfy bed. Owner is keen to ensure you have a perfect stay - even lent me a torch! Definitely recommend staying. Quality of breakfast superb.

I normally stay in hotels when working away but was recommended the Lantern Cottage B&B and thought I would give it a try. Well I couldn't have been more satisfied. The house is delightful, as is the host and the room very tastefully decorated. I enjoyed 2 very comfortable nights there, along with the best breakfast a man could ask... More

If needing a place to stay in this part of Sussex you might consider one of the well-advertised chain hotels but why would you when you could stay somewhere a little bit different, like Lantern Cottage. It's in a great location with easy access to Brighton, the South Downs and Gatwick, set back from the main road so beautifully peaceful... More

We would definitely recommend this lovely cottage as an ideal place to stay for access to the south downs and Brighton. Rooms were spacious, breakfasts were good and the bed was very comfortable and in a really peaceful part of the countryside, set well back from the main road. Will stay here again!

Lantern Cottage was booked for us by relatives - we were going to a family party nearby, so we weren't expecting anything special, just somewhere to sleep. So Lantern Cottage was a lovely surprise. It is a historic building tucked away and difficult to find without directions. Our room was really spacious, very well equipped and tastefully furnished, with an... More

The double room we had was fantastic - lovely views over the garden, very comfortable bed, spacious and with a good bathroom en-suite. There are even very nice quality toiletries. Breakfast was very good too - perhaps there are cheaper B & Bs around the area, but I do not think there are any nicer

I stayed at Lantern cottage whilst walking the south downs way and I was really glad that I did. For the rest of the trip I stayed in inns and hotels and this was a very welcome change. Everything about my stay was perfect really, from the welcome, the hospitality, the food, the room and just the general feeling around... More

We had a birthday in Hassocks and found this place searching on google maps, and very glad we did! The property has a lot of character, the rooms are clean and very well looked after. The bathrooms are a good size and also very clean. We slept very well on the very comfortable bedding and the breakfast was great too!... More

We arrived to this beautiful property quite late to a lovely warm welcome from the owner (Debbie). It is located in a peaceful, quiet location but with easy access to local amenities and the local train station. Tastefully decorated and pristinely clean bedrooms. Excellent breakfasts and warm hospitality throughout. Would thoroughly recommend!! Thanks

Can only echo positive comments by other visitors. Stayed there on a Saturday night to go (by train) to a concert in Brighton, rather than stay in Brighton itself. Very convenient. Room spacious, bright, clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Very welcoming black cat. Can highly recommend food at Thatched Inn in village. Friendly young owners; wonderful steaks. Will certainly return... More
