Delightful homestay (arguably a small hotel) set back from a small lake, with beautiful views of the local hills, and from upper rooms/roof tops across the lake. Visited early in a 3 week trip across South India. We would echo all the positive comments that other reviewers have made. We stayed in the beautifully situated Pondicherry Suite, above the swimming... More

We stayed here on our way from the Western Ghats to Chennai and Jalakara on Havelock in the Andamans. We didn't want to stay in a city and couldn't have made a better choice. The stay was thoroughly relaxing. The rooms and food were excellent and the staff really put themselves out to make the visit a success. The pool... More

As we were passing close by, en route to the North, it made sense to break our journey here, a property we had visited a year earlier. We were initially disappointed to learn that we would be the only guests to be accommodated in a non-A/C room, particularly as the weather was really heating up. However the combination of fly... We are a couple who are travelling on a budget, however fancied a splurge for my birthday after reading about this place in the lonely planet. Totally blown away by one of the best views we have ever seen on the doorstep to our spotless room. The pool has crystal blue water, and best of all the atmosphere is so... More

This is home stay come mini hotel - with a very special team of really friendly and interested staff. No frills accommodation but comfortable beds and all facilities. The atmosphere is that of a large family with other guests meeting each evening for a communal three course tasty and varied supper. Lovely pool, gorgeous views, bird life, walks and local... More

We enjoyed a relaxing 4 nights at Cardamom House. Our visit to Athoor village was a highlight - with the locals very welcoming- an elderly man inviting my wife to take his chair in the shade to watch a wedding ceremony, being served coffee theatrically by a Freddie Mercury look alike. Pleasant walks down to the lake. But undoubtedly THE... More

Many thanks for that really nice review. It was indeed enjoyable to be able to sit on the veranda and compare experiences after we found that we had both attended Cambridge University - and also lived in Brussels for considerable periods of time. I have never thought of us as being an "English House Party" for normally we have a... More

We stayed here for a week on the first stopover of a 6 week trip to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It was the ideal place to acclimatise and be introduced to rural South Indian life as well. The staff here are just full of goodwill, and know exactly how to make you feel pampered. Rooms are in small stone cottages... More

We had a wonderful opportunity to spend our weekend break here. This is meant for people who just wanna keep off their routine, with no major agenda. Located on the banks of the Kamarajar Lake near Aathoor village, this is a convenient location offering family homestay with nature's lure. Access to this place from the main highway passes through lush... More

We left Cardamon House today after two wonderful nights. One week into our tour we'd begun to tire of towns and temples. Nestled on the side of the hills and overlooking a beautiful flat valley with a lake and village nearby and rice fields in the distance, this is a wonderful place to chill. The locals that run the home... More
