We were at Cardamom House in March. What a wonderful place to stay! We enjoyed the quiet of the family atmosphere. We were the only guests at the time. We enjoyed talking with all of the staff as well as Dr. Chris Lucas. One of the highlights of our stay was the day we went to the goat tree (there... More

After a 10 hr bus trip from kerala across the Western Ghats, we were treated with cool face washes and drinks to welcome our party of 9 to this special retreat. After we were settled we had the first of many sumptuous meals under the stars on the rooftop dining area served by our incredibly attentive hosts. This lovely small... More

As will be apparent from responses to some other reviewers, the elderly British owner of Cardamom House does not take kindly to even the mildest criticism, which is a shame because there was much to praise here: the beautiful, peaceful setting, the attractive swimming pool, the rich birdlife and interesting local culture. Chris Lucas has gathered a small team of... More

Christopher1936, Owner at Cardamom House, responded to this review

That was indeed a long winded response and, alas, inaccurate, distorted and emotive! Thus, I decided to set the record straight by posting this management response. The title of the review “Criticize at your peril” is complete rubbish! We really welcome input and ‘feedback’ from our guests for, as any business minded person will know, success is dependent on many... More

We needed to have a few days rest and our stay at the Cardamom House provided us with that in a perfect way. The beauty of the place and the superb service of the stuff (and a friendly dog). Everything works. We can recommend it warmly.

Stayed with my family with small kid. The rooms are simple, nothing fancy. But what more do you need? Service is great and personal, food is tasty, the swimming pool clean, etc. Visited Dindigul and Athoor village. Both are utterly non-touristic. Very interesting to go there, sit down and have a feel of 'normal' life in Tamil Nadu. Highly recommended.... More

Delightful homestay (arguably a small hotel) set back from a small lake, with beautiful views of the local hills, and from upper rooms/roof tops across the lake. Visited early in a 3 week trip across South India. We would echo all the positive comments that other reviewers have made. We stayed in the beautifully situated Pondicherry Suite, above the swimming... More

We stayed here on our way from the Western Ghats to Chennai and Jalakara on Havelock in the Andamans. We didn't want to stay in a city and couldn't have made a better choice. The stay was thoroughly relaxing. The rooms and food were excellent and the staff really put themselves out to make the visit a success. The pool... More

As we were passing close by, en route to the North, it made sense to break our journey here, a property we had visited a year earlier. We were initially disappointed to learn that we would be the only guests to be accommodated in a non-A/C room, particularly as the weather was really heating up. However the combination of fly... We are a couple who are travelling on a budget, however fancied a splurge for my birthday after reading about this place in the lonely planet. Totally blown away by one of the best views we have ever seen on the doorstep to our spotless room. The pool has crystal blue water, and best of all the atmosphere is so... More

This is home stay come mini hotel - with a very special team of really friendly and interested staff. No frills accommodation but comfortable beds and all facilities. The atmosphere is that of a large family with other guests meeting each evening for a communal three course tasty and varied supper. Lovely pool, gorgeous views, bird life, walks and local... More
