The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had stay for a night away from all the hustle and bustle of city life; you can only hear nature. Each of our meal was set up in different place and was very well presented. The rooms were very clean. Will stay here again and will recommend to all.

South India may not be as well known as the north, but it has so much to offer the traveller. However, it is chaotic and noisy, and the towns and cities are crowded. Lakeside is the perfect antidote. It is a haven of tranquillity, the perfect place to return to after an exciting, busy day sightseeing. The term ‘guesthouse’ doesn’t... More

The brochure says it all. We cannot fault this wonderful place Dorinda and Peter are delightful hosts and made our stay memorable. The staff, lead by John Kennedy were charming and attentive and Perry the dog must not be forgotten. A good sized swimming pool was most welcome after long walks around the lake and cycle trips to the village.... More

Like a previous reviewer, I use TripAdvisor a lot when searching for somewhere to stay but have never written a review. This place is so special however that I just have to write. We stayed in this valley for two nights two years ago while on a tour and found it was not long enough. The place we stayed in... More

As the name suggests, Lakeside is beautifully situated overlooking a lake with a ring of mountains behind it. Although we were in the cheapest room (3600 rupees / night) we had a wonderful view from the long, shared veranda and spent many hours in comfortable chairs gazing at the lake. The rooms are very comfortable with an excellent shower and... More

I've never written a review before, but after staying at 'lakeside' for a couple of nights from Boxing Day and enjoying the absolutely incredible surroundings and immaculate accommodation offered by Dorinda, Pete and their staff, I felt I had to. If you have read their own description on their website and it strikes a chord with you, then you won't... More

Thank you so much for your kind review Ali, we know that some properties in India bear little resemblance to their advertisements, but we are great believers in honest advertising and try not to promise anything we can't deliver. We thoroughly enjoyed having you to stay with us over the festive season and hope to see you again later in... More

Our stay at Lakeside was just perfect! The views were spectacular especially when having breakfast on the veranda. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful and went to great extremes to make our stay so memorable. The trips and tours they organised for us to outlying areas and to Kerala were superb and we were able to savour the real... More

Thank you Vivien, I can quite honestly say that we enjoyed your visit just as much as you did! We are so glad that you enjoyed your short 'side-trip' to Kerala, especially the elephant experience; we will certainly be happy to help you organise other trips should you return to Lakeside. If I had to rate the most spectacular view when you check-in to a property, Lakeside would win my vote hands down. The view of the bougainvilleas in full bloom and the lake beyond is breath-taking. The main bungalow with its library, TV lounge, area to have your meals has four rooms (2 air-conditioned) with a magnificent views of the... More

... and I say this despite I got more ill here than ever in my life. That should say a lot. Something just clicks at Lakeside. I guess it's the owners' strong vision and personal capability to make that true. Service is perfect -- forget pushy aggressive Indian service. Here the staff is personal and discreet at the same time.... More

Thank you so much for your kind review. But please let me tell readers from the outset - it wasn't our food that made you ill but some 'bug' that arrived at Lakeside with you! We were more than happy to help you out - not many can return home after a holiday to India and say that they have... More

What a lovely spot! We visited the lakeside guesthouse as a weekend break during a volunteering project in Madurai. It was a bit of a drive out of town, but this only added to the feeling of escape from the madness of the city. The setting alone makes you want to wind down with a book overlooking the lake, which... More
