Stayed two nights in the MacDonald Tickle Trout to attend a nearby wedding. Got what appeared to be a good rate arranged for the wedding guests, however, the outside areas surrounding the windows were covered in spiders nest, insects, cobwebs etc. The staff were polite and friendly, the bedrooms were clean, yet you couldn't open the bedroom windows due to... more

Stayed three nights using Tesco Deals points and chose the hotel for location only - central to things we had planned to do in the area. Not easy to find your way into the car park - it looks as if you are going into a petrol station and I would concur with the previous reviewer in that the grounds... more

We have just returned from a weekend in Preston visiting family and friends. W stayed a Saturday night at the Tickled Trout and found it to be a decent hotel. While it is possibly below the standard of most Macdonald Hotels, it is still fairly good. WE booked in to a Family room and had a great view of the... more

It's OK, but only if you're looking for a night-stop on a business trip. Pleasant enough, but this hotel is a bit (otherwise) depressing... really depressing... the advertisement alerts us to the River Ribble, but (alas) the Lounge evokes a curious stench of sewrage... still, the food from the restaurant was decent. As I suggested, JUST A STOP-OVER. more

This place is a joke! They loose reservations made online, they dont seem to know what they are doing, the porter got the wrong room late at night and opened the door to another sleeping couple! who luckily didnt wake up, and breakfast is overprices and not very pleasant. There is nothing to do in the area but walk by... more

We stayed at the Tickled Trout at the end of August/early Sept to break our journey home from Scotland. It is very easy to find and at first sight (behind the BP garage) the hotel does not look that great, and you can hear road noise from the motorway. However, our room was lovely - actually one large bedroom with... more

I stayed at the Tickled Trout as I was in Leyland on business last week as the local Best Western was fully booked. As I had a late meeting that evening, I had selected the TT as I had been informed it had 24 hour room service and I wouldn't have had a chance to dine until very late. Check... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Tickled Trout over the Valentine Weekend and attended the themed Murdery Mystery Night. When we arrived at the hotel we were promptly checked in and found our room to be very clean and well presented, all be it a long way from reception!. There was every amenity you required from Iron, Ironing Board,... more

We walked into the hotel having driven a long way and they offered us a room. There was a wedding party getting horribly drunk in reception but we eventually found our room- it was like a trek through a maze to find! The bathroom was clean but the room looked like a rugby team had had a party in the... more

Noise from the motorway and a dripping sound from outside my room added to a sleepless night. Tea making facilities were hidden away in a draw in the room and breakfast as an added extra proce of £17.50 is OTT. General appearance of the decor is shabby in places but the rooms are furnished well and the bathrooms quite good. more
